Don't think I'd recognise any of these if they passed me in the street.

Have movie stars become less well known or do the oscars go for more obscure films as a rule now?

Well Eddie Redmayne is a relatively new actor and Patricia Arquette wouldn't be too well known but surely you'd recognise Julianne Moore and JK Simmons.

I watched Birdman the other week, turned it off. Rubbish it was.

It was far across the sea,
When the devil got a hold of me,
He wouldn't set me free,
So he kept me soul for ransom.

i wouldn't know what arquette or simmons look like tbh. The same goes for redmayne.

I'm not saying they're not worthy winners it's just i couldn't give a fΓΊck.

Delighted Birdman did so well Clap

Redmayne and Simmons well deserve their Oscars, haven't seen Boyhood or Still Alice to judge the actresses but from what I saw Rosamund Pike and Emma Stone were the stand outs!

Best thing about Oz back in the day!
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

Just had a google, Julainna Moore looks familiar alright, but looking at her filmography, Jurassic Park is probably the only thing I've seen. Maybe I'm being ignorant but she doesn't seem as famous as people like Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Natalie Portman, Sandra Bullock, Kate Winslet etc

JK Simmons looks to be most famous for Law and Order yeah? He seems to have a fairly long filmography in movies (a few of which I've seen) but was he fairly minor roles?

Julianne Moore is one of the best actresses around and has been in some huge films over the last 10-15 years.

JK Simmons was in Oz and imo the best character in it.He has most played minor roles but has had some very good roles and been in a few huge hits.

Nominations are out today

Would want to be the one to pick the winner from Supporting Male category
Tom Hanks
Anthony Hopkins
Al Pacino
Joe Pesci
Brad Pitt

Best Film:
Le Mann 66
The Irishman
JoJo Rabbit
joker
Little women
Marriage Story
1917
Once Upon a time in Hollywood
Parasite

From the films I have seen I'd go with Joker. Going to see 1917 at the weekend so I'll know then.
