Remember watching it in the pub on rte and the Germans scored in like 92nd min and I thought 'typical fecking Germans'.

Very untypical of them to lose a shootout of course.
Poor fella's probably never recovered from it.

Been searching the forum looking for a thread on that famous day in New York in 94 and can’t find one.  Anyone know if there is one?  Would love to read people’s memories of that day.  I finished my leaving cert the Tuesday before and flew out on the Friday.  All a blur now but remember the heat and staying in the Novotel just off Times Square.

17:10 Irish Time 26 years ago, another campaign is about to end on goal difference, and Jack Charlton is about to get the sack. Then...

Never get bored looking at that.
Bulgaria had a couple of chances after MacKay scored which would have completely changed the history books. The line between success and failure can be very thin sometimes!
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

Took a half day from work and adjourned to a local hostelry more in hope than expectation. Tge boys in the studios were like fans at the end, champagne flowed.
