I suspect this board is all about process and I would not be surprised they have done the classic get three quotes approach.  In this case speak to three managers and make a recommendation to the board from there.

Seems like they've had initial talks with a number of people. Next stage is more formal and detailed talks with them.

Why do I get the feeling theses two spanners will come out with the most disappointing announcement ever
Any particular reason to label Canham a "spanner"? Dont recall any mud been thrown in his direction?

No particular reason. Just a strong hunch the two of them will make a clusterf**k of this.  Two Brits who probably thinks Paddy will be grateful for Steve Bruce.

I also have an image of that scene from Only Fools and Horses when they are re-decorating Denzil's flat.

Del (Irish footballing public):  Go down the town and get me a yellow canary (good football manager).  Grandad: (Jonathan Hill)  Right
Del: And a yellow one!
Rodney: (journalists) ''we dont want a budgie (Allardyce) or a parrot (Bruce)
Grandad: Ok! You want a canary!
Del:Write it down for him Rodney
Grandad: I'll remember! A yellow canary, yellow canary, yellow canary..

Later..
Grandad (Hill) buys a Steve Bruce
Del:  ''If that thing has laid an egg I'm gonna kill you!''

Carsley is a gamble, could work out great, could be a disaster.

The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking my first choice is big Sam. Though we probably wouldn't be able to afford what he'd look for!

"We know which pot we are in in the [men's] Nations League, we could possibly get Wales and England and I would be very confident those games would sell out."

I fee like this quote demonstrates where his mind is. Short term ticket sales and not medium to long term development. The type of guy that would gladly appoint Gary Rowett and delightfully observe a draw against England. Less outlay. Max income.

They have spent fortunes of money and have an excellent team. Certainly not as good as City or Arsenal but no mugs. Just looking at the stats as well 39% possession and 3 shots on target so hardly an earth shattering performance.

Funny that you ignore the city game where they had 22 (7 on target) shots to city’s 2. And had 46 per cent possession against city.

The principle of this that you can take on teams that have better players and you don’t have to lie down and die.

Who on here has suggested that we "lie down and die"?  To suggest we play a style and system that is suited to our players' talents and abilities is a far cry from saying we should " lie down and die." But I suspect you know that.
