If Carsley is under NDA then he can’t legally say anything. But that may be why we’re hearing it’s a no from people somewhat close to him. It could be his way of ruling himself out without having to release a statement.

Why would he sign a DNA if no contract was signed? And why would Carsley ot any of the parties involved make a statement? They would all know exactly where they stand at this stage.

My take is this

It's a couple of weeks since we heard there were still talks about backroom staff etc.
He has since told friends he is not taking the job as it's not the right time.
Maybe he knew he wasn't going to take it during those talks but wanted to discuss as he has a genuine interest in the direction the FAI are going, as it's a job he wants in the future.
If all this is the case, he has told the FA he is 100 per cent staying with them so there is absolutely no need to make a statement.
All parties know. FAI won't confirm or deny anything until process is complete

You could be right, and I wouldn't be surprised if you are. Carsley may not be making a statement (apart from a possible NDA) just out of respect and professionalism. It wouldn't be a great look for potential future employers if he forced the FAI into the firing line.

For the NDA, if one was signed, it likely would have had to be signed before they spoke in order to make sure no information is released without consent. Especially in a situation where someone like Carsley may have turned down the role. If he made an official statement to say as much before the FAI has announced a new manager, it raises a lot of questions that will put them under pressure. For the FAI, the less said the less mended.

But look, I could be miles off here. Maybe they're in final negotiations with LC, or they have some really promising, up-and-coming person that's about to sign. But from the outside with the information we have, it doesn't feel like that's the case.

DNA is an interesting take although I have never heard of it before in this scenario.

But Carlsey, FA and FAI are not going to comment on rumours.

Yeah, I mean I have no idea if the FAI use NDA's or whether it's even common for potential managers to sign one during negotiations. I would imagine the FAI definitely use them, but maybe not at that level of the process. But it could even just be a gentleman's agreement, where as you say none of them are going to comment.

OH, the FAI know all about DNAs, they were extremely popular in Delaney's era.

But as Drumcondra says, no way would they be used here.

Yeah, I'd say you're both probably right to be fair.

It's important that we make stuff up or read some madey-uppey stuff by someone else, then denigrate the whole process as a shambles based on that info Thumbs Up

Maybe Shay has been McCaddens source all along, so him doubling down today after Givens comments last night might be irrelevant.

The only ex team mate I will listen to is Kilbane. Hes been tight lipped since 2 weeks ago writing that they are in negotiations. Thats the closest source we have to Carsley.

All this talk of NDAs are nonsense, we are just losing our minds because in the age of social media everything is analyzed to death and we want answers quickly. Theres about 5 and half weeks to the Belgium game right now. If Carsley is appointed in the next week or so that is plenty of time to prepare for it. If it goes any longer than the next week I am going to start to worry that Crawford will be interim manager for March.

If Carsley had told the FAI a week or two he wasn't interested in the role, it's hard to imagine thar this wouldn't be common knowledge in the media. Every indication has been that he has been in strong contention for the job, certainly up until the last 24 hours or so.

Would agree with all of that, there is no major rush here.

Kerr talking tonight on Virgin Media, says that it wont be Carsley... but goes onto mention Stephen Bradley as a possible candidate.

I am starting to believe its not Carsley now I have to stay, and unless they have a major Ace card held back I think we are in big trouble.
