Either he seen it and said nothing or he didn’t see it and is blind

Turgid years LOL

Short memory NR.

Not really BB Everyman and their dog knew the home defeat to Denmark in the playoff should of been the end but o Neill and Keane and their salaries presided over not just sh*t results but sh*t performances as well with o Neill post match interviews leavving you wondering what game he had watched

A high point being outplayed at home by a sh*t NI team in a friendly

We need a coach/ tactician not a motivator

Plenty of coaches on the continent and the salary is competitive

Agreed that he was there too long but Lille, Cardiff, Germany at home ? No ?

BB I will take Germany at home to my grave - I will always be grateful for  that, replace Cardiff (daylight robbery) with Vienna and Lille yeah great results but he shoukd of walked been let go
'Irish' Songs for an Irish team - no SPL EPL generic sh*te
Richard Dunne - 6th Sept 11 - best marshalling of a defence in Moscow since General Zukov Russia V Germany 1941

Roy Keane lads, what drugs are you taking?! He hasn't managed a team in over 10 years and will probably fall out with half the team. He's a f**king lunatic, keep him at Sky! I'm actually baffled at that suggestion Confused

We've just had Stephen Kenny and are left with a very uninspiring list of candidates that would make Mike Bassett look like Pep Guardiola. It's not that too far fetched, truth be told.

Maybe not that far-fetched but almost as ridiculous a suggestion as Kenny was.

However, there are rarely ever fairytale endings when it comes to being an Ireland supporter in any sport!

Why not just hire this strong coach as our manager instead if he's needed that much. Most people saying they wouldn't mind Keane also add the "but I want to see him bring in a top number two also".

Why not just cut out the middle man and make the tactical savvy coach our number one rather than number two.

Exactly. Hard to imagine that lads who follow football closely could, in all honesty, back that charlatan to be our next manager. Mind-boggling stuff.

I understand where you are coming from but Keane is one of the only Irish people involved in professional football that broke through our mental block of forever thinking everyone is better than us - a mentality compounded by Stephen Kenny recently - just check his post game interview on Saturday. It's 11 lads kicking a ball into a net. We always play with a fear and I think yeah, he might upset a few people along the way but he would make sure our players aren't fearful of the opposition. And that's a significant upgrade on what we have now already.

Roy Keane would be the same ineptness we have now just with added screaming and players retiring early from international duty.

I think there's a very good chance we won't have a new man in place until next summer. It will suit the FAI to suss the managerial landscape at the end of the European season (possibly even after the Euros) to see who's available.

Also, not having to pay a mens senior manager for 7 months will save a couple of 100k, and I'm sure that's attractive right now to the FAI

Wouldn't be surprised if Chris Hughton becomes available after that result for Ghana today.
Walters coming back from an offside position but Shane Long was definitely onside- Shane Lonnggggggg.... has done it!!!!

Is that result not a prime example as to why he’s not up to the Ireland job?

I know you’re only saying he’ll likely become available but personally think he should be avoided.

It's a prime example of a manager taking on the wrong job. Never seemed a good fit. He should be in the running for the job with us if he is available. My number one choice would be Lee Carsley but if we are then onto Neil Lennon, Roy Keane territory should Carsley not want it then Hughton would be much preferable as would Steve Bruce imo.

No need to rush an appointment for now. All the same you wouldn't want it dragging towards next summer. But there's three months now to sound out the relevant people and get a new man in before a squad needs to be announced for games in March. No doubt we'll have the Keanes and Lennon using their friends in the media to get their names into the mix. But we need the board to look beyond those types and find the best man for the job, not the biggest name.

Replacing a failed international manager with a failed international manager might not be the way to go. Chris Coleman and Réne Havard are much better options.

I have absolutely zero faith in the FAI to make a competent and sensible decision unfortunately, and given the stayaway CEO couldn't give less of a f**k, is in breach of FAI AND Government bailout rules re: his salary, and the organisation can't even pass basic governance reforms, I fully expect some tired, lazy "big name" appointment to be made. Someone who's so clearly past it as a manager, but people know and are within our budget, so Lennon, Hughton or Bruce probably.

Christ.
