Goodwin dumped out of the cup by Darvel

Could we get him in before the France game?

EIRE managers.   Not to be trusted like goalkeepers in trackie bottoms,  players who wear gloves, English at penalty shoot outs.
Pied Piper to: Baldrick, Brendan 88, 9Fingers, Borussia and more...

97.6% chance this post will be replied to by Baldrick (source: PWC)

So much for his rebuild. Aberdeen to go grovelling back to McInnes probably.
We're decent enough..

Will a replacement for John Eustace be appointed before the Euro qualifiers? Seems a forgotten topic.

There was an article in one of the papers the last few days where Jonathan Hill said an appointment would likely be in place before March. Brian Barry Murphy was mentioned as a possibility in the article but not sure if that was just complete speculation.

Report in the examiner today that Barry has been asked to come back. Barry currently having a think about it. Kenny doesn't seem to be able to learn his lesson when it comes to coaches.

By picking half decent in demand ones?

Dan McD said last week a new coach will be in place before march games.

Double-edged sword though. Obviously great that SK wants good quality coaches but the inevitability is that they leave for a club job, or in Barry's case, a better international one. We need to strike the right balance between quality and stability.

But if Stephen Kenny was any good - he too would have been snapped up. It's part of the game.

Barry going to turn down the offer.

Bad look for Kenny to run back to a fella who left him high and dry.

Objectively, who in their right mind is going to want to associate themselves with the mess this group is almost guaranteed to be? There's no positives to be gained for a prospective coach. He'll end up getting Vinny Perth to do it, or someone of that calibre.

It'll be a short-term contract for any assistant. A new manager would want his own backroom.

A young ambitious coach who backs themselves to make a difference.
If we over-perform than there are loads of possible positives for a young coach.

You can back yourself to make a difference and understand that a Stephen Kenny managed Ireland team aren't laying a finger on France or Netherlands.

Seeing as he has nobody in place yet as he is still running around after Barry, any new appointment is going to have minimal time to get up to speed.

So you're going to be out of a job in less than a years time, possibly even sooner, with a few hammerings on the CV to boot.

Its cloud cuckoo land stuff to pretend that any half decent coach would be interested.

Maybe you're right considering what has happened to the previous people who took on that role.
Actually, hold on......

With the reports that the FAI are lining up Lee Carsley as the next manager it sounds like they've already made plans for a possible change come the summer.

That alone is gonna make lads question if they want to commit to something that could end in a few months.

A new coach could come in with a view to taking on the managers job when the managerial role becomes vacant
time is the stuff that life is made of, don't waste it.

Step forward Rory Delap. Though Goodwin will soon fit the number one criteria for the FAI, unemployed and cheap should the senior job become available.
