You would still cancel, but you would be cancelling at half the price.

Sometimes you see something like this online and wonder how these people dress themselves without falling over.

We cancelled and re booked about 4 times until it was apparent we won't be going this year.
We haven't gotten to the stage yet where we have block booked dates for every month next year.

What's the chances of getting a visa to work over in the states? Presume your best bet is to apply for jobs and hope the company sponsors you?

Think that's how it works. The company will do all the visa work for you.

It's an extremely long winded and time consuming process which makes it pretty difficult to get in nowadays.

Even if you're offered a job, it doesn't guarantee you a visa because depending on what field you're in you will be put in a lottery (unless the company has access to Visa's which is rare)

I should be living in Connecticut at the moment but the COVID Pandemic stopped that unfortunately but I will more than likely be moving over after the LOI Underage season this year or next Spring.

The best thing to do would be to ring a lawyer, get some legal advice and they will guide you. Below is the crowd I spoke to, I would highly recommend speaking to them.

This - one of my previous companies sorted it all out for me.
You obviously need to be deemed a ‘specialist’.

If you are thinking long term you could join a large multinational in Ireland and then look for an internal move after a few years.

Work in data science I guess so was thinking of taking a career break and trying my hand at working/living abroad.

Don't know if that would be considered an area of demand.

Cheers for the advice Green Devil will drop that crowd an email.

Data science is a huge in-demand market so sponsorship is possible.
An internal transfer will be the easiest way of doing it.

Heading here next month for 8 days. My passport is out in May and someone has mentioned to me it needs to be at least 6 months in date. Is this true?

Yeah has to be valid for minimum of 6 months of your arrival date for U.S.

Had this before myself and got an emergency passport.

Its true and I wouldn't chance it. I'm planning on a trip to Florida in September and my passport runs out in November. I'll be getting a new one before I fly. Immigration and customs police are notoriously strict and won't do you any favours.

No. Ireland  has an agreement with the USA. It's on the Dept of Foreign Affairs website. I would renew

You cannot enter the USA on an emergency passport anymore.

Renew online. Takes 3 days.

Slightly off topic regarding city but has anyone on here ever been in New Orleans?

Heading over to the U.S. in June and doing two nights here with only one real full day for sightseeing so any recommendations? Cheers.

Off topic. How strict would shops/retailers in the states be in accepting USD currency that has been slightly damaged, e.g. got damp so a bit of colouring on it?

I'm thinking still legal tender so should be grand?
The state of some of the fivers and tenners you do get and habr to use in EUR that are accepted without bother but wondering if they are more strict in US.
