Mentioned elsewhere here I'm sure, but Tallaght is getting a third stand next year. Circa 2.6k. It will be a Uefa Cat 4 stadium then and will be able to host CL group stages (if a team ever makes it that far!)

Plan to build a 4th stand over the next few years too.

Yea this has been in the pipe line a while now good to see it getting the green light , shame the design won't make the ground in to a bowl design stadium

They didnt build the stadium in Carrig because they'll play club games there too.

The stand alone won't bring it to a cat 4 stadium.

The lights aren't good enough, there's not the proper VIP seating, not enough media facilities, not enough to camera positions, lack of hospitality area and so on, it's quite a long list actually

I could be wrong but all the things you mentioned above are those required for UEFA 4 Star stadium . I think the car 4 rating is to do with capacity. With needs to be a min 8,000 to hold a champions league game

Rubbish. There are two hospitality areas for jaysis sake. You need to be a lot more grateful for Tallaght and the fact you could play your games there.

I'm afraid it's not rubbish, and please don't take it so personal, i wasn't having a go. And for the record I am greatful to UEFA for allowing us to play in a stadium that does not meet their minimum requirements

The current hospitality areas do not meet requirements, hence the need for a large marquee for our games there.

have you not noticed the temp media facilities that have been put in place? or the extra gantrys? all in the east stand? or the VIP seating (although these may have been removed after each game)

Now maybe there's more to the new stand than just increased capacity, but just bringing the stadium up to a capacity of 8000 will not suddenly make the ground a cat 4 stadium
