I would prefer if the FAI concentrated on the developement of Irish football and left the badge alone.
It's a deflector nothing more nothing less.

They hardly do one thing at a time LOL They employ a few hundred people, the media and marketing staff are hardly going to be working towards the development of Irish football!

Besides, these things are outsourced to specialist graphic designers. Theres not going to be some lad behind a desk in Abbotstown doodling away with crayons.

A new imagine for the FAI as whole is badly needed, theres a need to disassociate with the old FAI and a new crest is a start. because its not just a crest its a brand image.

If you were to do a marketing survey with the general public they'd probably associate the current crest with all the negative attention the FAI has been dragged through the last 3 years. Delaneys disgraceful carry on, the court hearings, the debt, the government bailouts etc..

Cooperate sponsors wont touch the team until the perception of the FAI changes.

I understand the nostalgic that people would have toward the previous crests. I would meself. But to move forward change is necessary so a new crest is fine imo.

Any new crest should representative of our nation and not just some corporate bullsh*t. Plenty of national associations have jazzed up or modernised their crests whilst keeping national symbols at the heart of it.

Germany prime example of this.  Tweaks made to the one on the jersey over the years but bascially still the same one. There's a seperate corporate logo for the DFB too

I wonder could we do something similar to what a few other nations do, with the Football Association logo and the crest on the jersey being different.

Coat of arms of Ireland.svg

The following is the Coat of Arms for Ireland I'd love to see something similar to this perhaps, I believe I posted on here the forum before the O'Neills 1916 commemorative jersey with the harp symbol, which I think would look great
The new jersey to mark the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising.

Anyone know if they are planning on getting the new crest ahead of the Euro's qualifying campaign?

Because they commissioned the same consulting company to create the crest no doubt.
Some company probably went out to different FA'S with some fancy presentation that JD fell for hook line and sinker

You just know the new crest will be absolute gack.

Go back to the 1986-1990 crest and then kindly f**k off
Pied Piper to: Baldrick, Brendan 88, 9Fingers, Borussia and more...

I like the harp idea mentioned earlier although the simplified shamrock italia 90 suits modern day logo styles better as it is clearer on small phone screens etc.

Yeah I think most would not want anything mad. One of the best Jerseys in recent times was the Blue retro looking one.
Something straight forward like the 1988/90 Jersey crest or a Harp I'd be very happy

I know other countries have modified and changed crests, but has any team done it on such a regular basis? By my reckoning we’ve had four distinct crests over the past 40 years.

Any possible timeframe on when when they'll release the new crest or will it just be whenever the new kit comes out?
