Newsflash from the mastermind that is Jamie Carragher

The most influential player thats played in the premier league is Gerard

http://www.teamtalk.com/news/2483/6487749/Carra-Gerrard-s-simply-the-best

Lets not get caught up in the fact that he has never won the premier league though
It took City 44 years to win the league and 10 months to lose it

Well, in a way Gerrard is. If he doesn't perform/is out of shape, the team just falls apart. So he is very infuential in terms of their results.

Whilst the likes of Drogba, Lampard, Scholes etc are very influential on the pitch, because of the sheer talent in the squad, the team will still usually get the points. Liverpool does not have that depth of squad and luxury.

Very true, and don't see them winning it anytime soon either. But I would consider Gerrard to be the most influential player for his team in the EPL.
But when you look at the league as a whole, he would be top-10, that's it.

Gerrard without a shadow of a doubt for me

Without him Liverpool would probably be a Championship side by now

In terms of prizes and merit, Giggs is an absolute legend. But the thing is, without Giggs, Man U still win their games and play some great football at times. So the influence of Giggs is not as big as Gerrard, as without him in the side/or with him out of form, Liverpool are a very average side and struggle to get the points.

If Gerrard was playing for Utd they probably would have had another few titles to the ones they have got already.

If this is since EPL began - Cantona?

Many thought at the time Leeds sold Man U the league along with Cantona, winning the first EPL titles and beginning 2 decades of dominance.

Just another way of looking at it!

Surely the likes of Keane & Viera should be included in this as when manure/arsenal were struggling in lots of games - who dragged them through the games by upping their game?? & ensuring that the others in their teams did the same. Sure was their not an article from Phil Neville the other day saying as much about Keane

An argument could also be made for Bergkamp as well i reckon

Matt Le Tissier deserves a mention here, definitly not the most influential but back in the day he used to keep southampton in the Premiership single handedly ever year.

Still my favourite premier league goal ever:

If we're talking since the PL came into being, it can only be Roy Keane FFS.  The one  year he missed with injury they didn't win the League.  Scholes has been outstanding, but it has to be Keane.

Gerrard  has been Liverpool's most influential player but as said they've not won the PL or really come close.  Carra's talking through his  hoop.
We'll never die, we'll never die, we'll keep the Green Flag flying high......Shamrock Rovers will never die, we'll keep the Green Flag Flying high. 19 Leagues and 25 Cups.....
