So could just about anything else! Why don't we all have a go at it? I reckon he was an alien sent to earth through his mother's vagina and his time to go home had come and he was beamed back after he sent a signal from his work computer.

I vaguely remember an interview one of his friends gave a few years ago. He had become close to some girl who lived in Alaska and was planning to meet up with her a week or so before he disappeared. I'd imagine he was checking emails in work after the Xmas party to check if anything had come in from her. There's plenty of theories going around but really the most likely outcome is that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and just fell victim to some nutter. In any event it would be great if they could locate some remains as it would give his family some much needed closure.

It was a very stormy and incredibly windy night. You don't hear so much now of the old theory that was around at the time that a sudden unexpected gust of wind may have blown him into the Liffey. Has that idea mostly been discounted now?

Don't think he was near the Liffey - he was around Haddington Road so it was the canal that was mentioned but obviously that's been ruled out now I'd say. Anyways, hope his family get some closure here.

For what it's worth, the brazzer angle came from a report in The Indo. They never linked Trevor specifically with hookers but they said that the chief suspect is from a crime family who controlled street prostitution in the Baggot St area. Obviously that led to people making assumptions based on his whereabouts on the night in question, the profile of the suspect and the time of night. Pretty irresponsible journalism if incorrect

Not claiming anything or have any knowledge of the case outside what was in the news this week. I just speculated based on the odd behaviour of going into your office and logging on after a nightclub and then the story that he may have been murdered by someone involved in prostitution ring and the thought "is this how a respectful young professional crossed paths with criminals". Sweet Jesus man. I was at a Christmas do that night. It was the worsr night of weather of the whole winter. Absolutely chucking it down. Ours was im the basement bar in the gingerman and the rain was so heavy it started coming in through the ceeling. Plus the taxis were on strike that night so everyone was walking through it that night. It was before most people had a pc or laptop at home so going into his place of work to dry off, grab a brolly and grab a coffee isn't odd at all. Nor is checking your email when you're there. Who the f**k books a brass on their work computer anyway? And were there many escort sites on line back in 2000? Get a grip. |

Yes it has. The Gardai dive unit searched the canal thoroughly, and they've said that bodies are usually found relatively quickly. So they were confident he didn't fall into the canal. There was some dodgey looking bloke who appeared to be following him at the bank link and at work, this was clear from the CCTV footage, why he was following TD? no one knows. He is most likely the culprit. I don't buy the whole killed by a gangster story either, there is nothing to collaborate that story. |

Sweet Jesus no need to get so worked up about my speculative theory on what may have occurred which as I said was based on the reports this week. I don't remember the weather on the night I question. I wasn't aware the taxis were on strike. I do think it's odd behaviour that someone would go into their office that late at night but now with the added information of no taxis and everyone was walking that night then yes perhaps someone could have gone in for a bit of shelter and wait for the rain to die off and kill time by reading a few emails. I also don't know what the online escort service was like a the time, was it any use? Probably it was the dodgy bloke in the CCTV who was seen following. |

I remember hearing another theory that suggested he may have been murdered and his body was disposed of in a commercial wheelie bin that was collected first thing that morning leading to little chance of investigating.
Some fairly madcap stuff being spouted in here but anything could have happened to the poor lad. I remember for a few years after this story broke myself and my mates going into town used to say not to leave each other on their own as we didn't want to be another TD. |

If and it is a big if this murdered by a criminal is a goer, the fact TD worked in the financial sector and had been tailed to his place of work i would assume he had been tapped up to do some financial fiddling or money taking for this thug, he could have easily been spouting out about his work in the wrong enviroment and was taking advantage of, an early type of tiger kidnap so to speak, obviously this is complete conjecture on my behalf
