As I says on the title .
Now I know there are quite a few stories to go with these as there are some classics I am sure due to falling asleep at the gate or the S7 flights which closed the desk when the flight was full and left everyone else stood there .

Any stories you can put them up .
As for me well so far lucky but did miss a flight back to Gatwick on a holiday due to snowbound plane hey it cost us 255 euro each to get back to Shannon the next day .

So away you go .

Deutche Bahn  cologne to dusseldorf late
Result - Misse Aer Lingus connection Dusseldorf to Dublin

Could of coped with one being late but not the combination of the two

I've had a few close shaves over the years, but have never missed a flight. Not on away trips, nor on any other trips. And that's with nearly 70 countries visited haha.

I like to have things organized. So usually already have a transfer or taxi sorted the day before travelling.

I bumped into a lad I know in the airport in Barcelona after the Andorra game. Himself and his friends stayed up for the Ireland rugby match which was on at about 7 that morning and then got a cab to the wrong airport. By the time they got a cab back to the correct airport their flight was gone. I left them for my own flight as they were trying to sort a new route home. Fast forward a few weeks and I bump into him over in Estonia. He explains that they eventually sorted out a new route home but due to the lack of sleep they dozed off in the airport and missed that too so they had to sort out a third route home. And these lads aren't young fellas either!

There were a few who missed their Belavia flights home from Kazakhstan via Minsk. I doubt that fixing that error was cheap.

Couple of close calls but I never missed a flight in my life until Moldova...7.20am flight the morning after the match. I headed up to the room to check something at 4am. The bed was too tempting - I set two alarms for 5am...woke at 8 and didn't care. I don't think I could have handled the three flights that morning anyway... €225 damage for the direct that night.

In Glasgow, I booked late so had no luggage and had booked some motorway stop hotel close to the airport just as a backup. I was going to stay up in town but I found nowhere to go except some shady casino on the river where they wanted to keep my passport before they'd let me in..I told them where to go and instead slept through my taxi for the 7am flight. I woke at 6.20 by some miracle. I went down to ask for a taxi but was told it would be half an hour. I went outside to look for one but the hotel was literally on an off-ramp with nothing around. Just then a taxi pulled up with some hotel staff. The taximan was a mad Celtic fan, put the foot to the floor and got me to the airport in 10 mins...I ran through to the gate and of course there was still a queue..

I booked all my flights for these aways while saving for France so the cheapest were ridiculous times. My Vienna return is 6.30am on the Sunday ffs...

Afternoon directs for me in future ...

Happened to me for the first time in Moldova. Instead of going straight to the airport I figured 2 hours kip would be a better idea and slept through the alarm. School boy error Embarrassed

Posted in the other thread about last time out in Vienna. Myself and Sausy missed the flight. He paid to leave later that day with Lufthansa for 250 quid. I decided the best option was to pay Aer Lingus 75 quid missed departure fee and take the same flight the next day and head back into town and meet AntrimMan.Lets just say it was not the best option.

Almost missed the flight from Bari morning after the match too. somehow just woke up 40mins before departure. Cue panic as I ran out of the room to wake my cousin and another mate in the 2 rooms next door to me. The cousin was out of the room within seconds. The mate decided he's have a dump. Time ticking on so me and my cousin abandoned him. Waved a fity note at the taxi driver and showed him the flight time. Not a red light was safe. Could see the airport from the Motorway for ages nd the Easy Jet plane sitting there. Legged it in and no queue at security and the then last couple of people just walking through the gate. Just made it. The other ld rang me as I was sitting on the plane explaining he could see the plane from the Motorway too. He ended up forking out 250 and went home with Club Travel direct. We had to go via Milan and Heathrow.

One of may favs was when Seville were in the UEFA cup final in Bucharest .
Now some of the fans clubbed together and chartered 180 seat  plane to take them to the final but somehow booked it to Budapest . As you can Imagine the confusion at the airport , but hey they were not alone as independent fans also made the same mistake .
A Hungraian  friend of mine said that it was all over the news back in Hungary and in fact 314 Spanish fans turned up at the wrong city ..........
