I'd give him another shot at the job after Trappa even though I was very much pro Keane after Saipan.

Hated that man before he replaced Charlton, hated what he did to the Irish team in Saipan and hate him still - every time I hear him speak and see his greasy hair I feel sickAngry

why because he had the cheek to send home his "captain" who insulted him publically and questioned his management. I cant believe how some people think Keane is a hero - he let his country down very badly. Bet you think Stephen Ireland is a hero too Helen? Keane was probably the best player in Irish history, but I have no time for him or his actions. A hero Roy Keane certainly aint.

But then again, he said sorry to us all by ending his career with the only truly irish club, didn't he? Ermm

I think McCarthy is a very stupid man and could have dealt with the situation much betterAngry

correct me if i'm wrong, but is this not his third (perhaps fourth?) promotion as a manager? He had pittance to deal with everytime he came up and always bounces back with promotions. He certainly has proved that one thing he's not is stupid.
he also knew the meaning of the word captain at a major international tournament when he was a player.

As I said before on another Mick McCarthy posting, Mick McCarthy was the best Irish manager since Big Jack and what he did with the Irish team was unbelieveable. He completely rebuilt it from scratch and then proceeded to qualify us from each and every group we played in. Had it not been for the play-offs (which were only brought in to lessen the European teams in favour of some more African sides in the WC- Great move FIFA Wacko - and lessen the chances of second tier sides in the EC) we would have qualified for the 1998 World Cup and the 2000 European Championships. In fact he would have got us to the finals of all three competitions he entered. The man is deserving of the highest praise and having met him a few times he is not only a nice man but a proud Irishman. The thing with Keane needed to be done and was done right. I for one would have McCarthy back as manager if Trappa ever called it quits. The FAI (under pressure for the Press) were wrong to let him resign.

Second promotion as far as I know.

He has also been relegated twice.

He is probably the worst British manager ever to manage in the premiership according to the stats. Two seasons in the top flight - two relegation's.

Think that stat was broken last season by Derby? Wonder what he would do with a team like Liverpool or Everton. Probably fire their captains and go on an win the titleBig%20smile

The stat i was talking about was his 100% record over 2 seasons at taking teams down.

But you are quite right to point out he also has the 2nd worst ever performance in the top flight.

He's not a "British manager" for a start. And the reason he got relegated was because he wasn't given any money to spend, unlike that legendary Premier League manager Roy Keane.
Waka waka hey hey, we're in Armenia!
