I really can't see it. Some of the lads in work that follow boxing a lot more than myself are optimistic enough that McGregor will take him the distance as Mayweather apparently isn't a very powerful puncher. He's also a counterpuncher so I assume that means he won't be pummeling McGregor as such.
Will be in New York when it's on. Should be good craic watching it over there.

Anything is possible, no doubt Mayweather is a far superior boxer. However, I wouldn't rule out McGregor knocking him out either.

McGregor not to win a round at 2/1 seems a good bet to me
Don't think he's going to be quick enough to catch Mayweather never mind knock him out |

Mcgregor's only chance is if he knocks out mayweather, to do that he needs to lure mayweather into a mistake and get through his defence. In order to that he needs to be completely unorthodox and throw punches from all angles at speed. So he has to take the risk of getting clocked himself. If he tries to wait for the right opening he will be waiting all night so he can't go in there and try to outbox mayweather.
Will come down to whether he has the stamina to keep up that level of work rate for the whole fight. Most likely mayweather will be able to deal with what mcgregor is throwing at him and then mcgregor gets wilder and wilder and mayweather keeps Picking him off and a wide points victory for mayweather. |

Someone made the point before that the fact that mcgregor isn't a natural boxer might have him throwing punches at angles Mayweather won't be used to . Anything could happen basically .

Mayweather never known for being a big hitter, so I think McGregor will get away with getting a few hits in from Mayweather. With the difference in gloves compared to UFC, Conor can take a few.
His Southpaw stance and unorthodox style will trouble Mayweather. He needs to take those chances and try a few wild pops. If one of his lefts connects, Mayweather is in trouble. But the trouble is connecting. Mayweather is a master in defensive boxing. And he's seen it all. Let's hope Conor is packing a surprise punch.

Don't think he stands a chance.
For those not familiar with Mayweathers style, expect the fight to be a f**king boring as you can imagine. He's a points fighter, always has been and always will be. There's talk of McGregor struggling in the later rounds but I don't see it happening. I'm hoping McGregor can make it interesting and it's not just an anti-climax

And to think he's achieved 26 knock outs from his style of boxing.. pretty mean return.

More TKO's than KO's. Only 3 pure KO's in his career and 1 was against a man hugging him saying sorry for a headbutt attempt 6 years ago. Before that his last KO was in 1999. He averages 7.8 rounds per fight

Yeah it was me listening to Tyson Fury on a podcast. Fury has predicted the fight to be over in less than 30 seconds in McGregor's favour. It's possible he was still on the gear when he said that but he did have a point about Conor's boxing style.

Or a far better anaology would be, McGregor isn't a boxer so his defence will be sh*t and Mayweather will just pick him off. I can't believe sane people on this forum are trying to take this fight seriously. I'd give anyone of our recent olympic boxers a better chance of beating Mayweather than McGregor. |

It all depends how seriously the two fighters are taking it, and whether there is some sort of script they have to adhere to
If it is a proper fight then McGregor shouldn't win a round |

It doesn't matter who wins. McGregor has fought a brilliant PR battle, took plenty of shots, threw a few humdingers himself and is still standing AND will have a hoor amount of cash because suckers are going to pay to either 1 - See him get battered or 2 - Watch him beating Mayweather. The outcome of the fight in the ring is immaterial. McGregor has already won and sits on top of a moneypile that he could only dream of 5 years ago.
Fair play to him is what I say. Next he'll be doing 'get rich quick' conferences and even more suckers will pay to hear him speak! |

I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
