If he starts acting the eejit, petty nonsense like this is exactly what is going to happen. Have you ever spent time in Dail Eireann viewing the daily happenings? I have and it's the most petty forum in the land.

One of the first tasks for the new President is to sign in the new finance bill. If he decides not to to do that, which he can do as the first citizen, "for the good of the Irish people", FG will give him a very rough ride. Trust me on that! Wink

He wouldnt be able to do anything "for the good of the Irish People". He would only be able to refer a bill to the Supreme Court if there is a question mark over its constitutionality. If he starts messing about and refusing to sign bills because he doesnt like them, both the Council of State and the Supreme Court, when it confirms the constitutionality of said bills and they become law anyway, will tell the public he is messing about. I am sure there is some form of censure for a President who doesnt exercise his powers properly

Mate of mine was in a pub in Bundoran at the weekend. Place was crawling with scumbags  for some band. Anyway this song starts 'If ya hate the f**king queen clap your hands' and then changes to ' If ya hate Martin McGuinness clap your hands' (you wouldnt believe who was singing it). Place was crawling with Real Ira supporters, lowest of the low. McGuinness is number one on their hated list.  'Move over Martin, We're only startin' was one t shirt slogan.
My mate didnt wait to finish the pint.

The vast majority of this country see McGuinness as a hero to the scum bags
Its actually the opposite.

That's a little bit disengenuous and not really representative of the answers given.

He was asked how many TD's were in the Dail and answered 166 as opposed to the correct figure of 168. I don't think that can reasonably be described as not having a clue.

Fair enough, he didn't know that Phil Hogan was the environment minister. Do people on here honestly believe that each of the other candidates are so well informed that they can name each ministerial portfolio holder when put on the spot like that?

He was also asked who were the current All Ireland hurling champions. Strangely, he'd no difficulty answering that one.Smile

Would that not be 168 as opposed to the correct figure of 166.
Anyone know if that interview can be heard online?

You're right - that should be 168 as opposed to 166.Embarrassed
The point I'm making, though, is that he was far from wildly inaccurate and not having a clue.

I don't think he'll get elected anyway. it would probably end up being michael d. be very surprised if he didn't. no denying that in this election, any publicity is good publicity.
