Anyone have a good word to say about her that's not a wind up or are people afaid to say it on here.
Herself and Reagan destroyed organised labour movements in the states and the UK respectively and set up the economy's as low manufacturing high services. Both countries felt the burden of the financial crisis as a result Germany did not have a Maggie Thatcher figure in its post war years and as a result is not as open to boom and bust my view. |

Britain should privatise and outsource her funeral to China or Taiwan, or somewhere. She would've wanted it that way. |

[/QUOTE] A fitting tribute to her a low cost Privatised funeral, where the directors make a killing and everyone that goes to pay their respects is charged for the privilege. From reading about her she seemed like a right **** and probably deserves all the abuse she's getting on here, but what's the difference between this and the other thread that was giving abuse to someone who had passed away? |

And now, step forward the gombeens: ------------------------------------------------- Former Minister for Justice and Foreign Affairs Gerard Collins has expressed his sadness on the death of Margaret Thatcher. He described her as an exceptionally important person not just for the British government but on a European and International level during her day. Mr Collins who worked with the former Prime Minister said she was a formidable politican. "She was, during her day, an exceptionally important person, not just in the British government sense but also in the European and international sense. She was a major major figure and an exceptionally able person. She was very very clear in her focus in her objective and I'm talking now about European and not just Ireland. And she was exceptionally determined in achieving her objectives." ----------------------------------------------------------- Retired Irish senior diplomat Noel Dorr, who attended several meetings between former Taoisigh Charles Haughey and Garret FitzGerald with Mrs Thatcher said her role in relation to Ireland was historic. He said the Anglo-Irish Agreement in 1985 was "significant". "She was more flexible than she presented herself as being and I think she wanted to settle the Northern Ireland question". ----------------------------------------------------------- "Ireland Says No" Btw, When is the flag at the Aras/GPO/Leinster House being lowered to mark this event, in the "spirit of co-operation"? |
