Bizarre stuff I'm reading. Dig at Mourinho it's one of the oldest defensive tactics in the book. Been used for decades. Klopp used it numerous times last season with Gomez as a holding RB and Robertson given total license at LB to attack. It's a hugely effective tactic at times, but I actually criticised Klopp numerous times last season for over using it. The biggest thing with that tactic is that if you are going to over load one wing in an attacking sense, that full back given more attacking duties has to be very good. Valencia simply hasn't been any good in that regard the past 2 seasons.

"I called him an embarrassment to FIFA and to himself," .... He said 'No-one speaks to me like that'.... and I said, "well I do' and that was that."

When United are back to full strength I wonder if Jose will start to use Young as a RW. Young lad Dalot at RB and it would certainly help ease him in. United need someone who will stay out wide on the right and you won't get that with Mata or Lingard.

Dalot wont be fit until mid September,I think Valencia will be back before that.I cant see anything but Valencia as first choice RB and Dalot getting cup games and a few minutes here and there. Dont know why United arent looking at Sanchez for RW,he played there a lot for Barca/Arsenal .Iiirc he started vs. Chelsea there but thats the only time hes been used from RW fro United.

Looks as though they're going to be bringing in a director of football, although why it's taken this long is anyone's guess

Rumours of that happening have cropped up before. They were supposed to be getting Berta from Atletico two years ago. Be interesting to see how it goes, should have happened when SAF retired.

I thought Fergie was dead set against it, as the manager should be the main man. May have been avoided because of that.

Imagine if he went to Real back then he would have 3 champions league medals. He said recently he has an odd day every now and again when he doesn’t think about that bloody fax machine.

I've always wondered why they haven't tried to convert Martial / Rashford to a right winger!

They have used both on the right wing a few times with poor enough results.Id like to see Martial on the left and Sanchez right side for a few games.Jose seemed to have made up his mind that Sanchez is purely a lw now.

I'd like to see a RW on the RW and none of this make shift nonsense. There was a graphic from Friday's match https://i.redd.it/3zzd89se4tf11.png that shows you the average position of each player. Mata (8) was on the right. It just shows you how congested the team is when they aren't getting any width from the wide players.

Sanchez played a lot on RW for Barca and Arsenal. He's right footed as well so should be less cutting in.
He's done f**k all on the left so far maybe a stint on the right might get him back to his beat.

And United would have successfully avoided relegation three times. |
