The way I look at it is we have no league for our reserves to play in, along with the league cup it would give an opportunity to give fringe players game time.
time is the stuff that life is made of, don't waste it.

Didn't realise that Nordie and Welsh teams are already competing. Good idea but not for teams that qualify for Europe

It will all depend on the cash. If you can make some nice money then LOI clubs will enter.

Ive seen a few of these games on tv. Playing the likes of livinigston or whoever in front of 10 people is hardly going to bring in the cash. Were better than that sh1te.

Due to the travel expenses involved, this would likely go to a Cork City shareholders meeting. I would expect the fans to vote no. Imagine the travel from Cork to Dumfries like.

I'm sure John Caulfield and Stephen Kenny (in particular) would have loved a couple of extra games in October.

Novelty factor for the fans but makes no sense for the clubs.  Anyway I thought we were already invited and turned it down earlier this year.  I could be remembering that wrong though.

Why would Celtic sign up to play in some mickey mouse makey uppy tournament?

They will have midweek CL or EL games to play.

I doubt that Celtic will be relegated.

Celtic reserves would piss all over the LOI sides anyway.

Thats why the mighty all conquering Livingston beat them 5-1 in this years competition LOLLOLLOLLOL

TNS got to the semi finals this year. Says it all about the "quality" of this cup.
LOI sides would do well to stay away from it. Also, according to that article they would want the top 2 so you`d be talking about Cork and Dundalk going off playing games in Scotland between September-November and Feburary and March. Otherwise known as the beginning of the season here and the title run in.
If LOI sides could stick their U19s in it like the SPL sides do with their U20s then it could be of value.

There mightn't even be that. You could end up going to somewhere like Stranraer Confused
