Playing for Celtic he should be burning it up every week, but with his Old Firm form the only realistic gauge for an international place. Playing against Ross County, Livingston, St Johnstone, Kilmarnock et al  is the equivalent of Liverpool or City players being judged against Fleetwood, Carlisle, Leyton Orient and Cambridge. Want to be taken seriously, Liam? Get the hell out of there. It's little more than grist to the mill of a sad duopoly.

He was man of the match against feynoord midweek in fairness . You could argue he’s playing at a much higher level than most of our players

Having watched that Celtic vs Feynoord game I'd make an argument that the standard was quite a bit lower than what the likes of Collins, O'Shea (when fit) and Egan are playing against each week.

Smaller country's like us have to cut out cloth to suit our measure. Not sure what's nuts about that

What would be nuts would be continuing with a league 2 player at wing-back, especially when his team getting battered 5-0. If Scales keeps playing well at Celtic it would be nuts not to use his versatility to try sort a long standing issue.

You're right, it's not absolutely nuts...

We have a serious weakness at left back. We have a left sided centre back who can play left back playing Champions League football. He may not be the answer but he's at least worth a look.

Plenty of past examples of it - Kenny Cunningham was a right back for his club when we picked him at centre back because we were short there at the time. It worked. We also tried the same thing with Ian Harte. That didn't work, so we put him back in his club position. But it's well worth a shot with Scales, especially when we have nothing to play for next month anyway.

Arguably one of our tightest defenses was under Trap with O'Shea playing RB and Kilbane playing LB. So its worth a shot, its not like its completely alien to him either he was brilliant for Rovers at LWB.
