Thought he played very well and didn't have any real issues against some top attackers. Just looks a really steady defender who is comfortable on the ball. The only thing I would say holds him back a bit is that he's not the quickest, but he does seem to read the game quite well to combat that.

MOTM for me. Top class performance. Man City gave him a trial while at UCD, can see why now. Could move to a bigger club he keeps playing like that.

Great performance tonight. His progression recently has been phenomenal, only last year he was at Aberdeen hoping to impress enough to earn a permanent move and here is tonight putting in a solid outing against Atletico in the CL.

I thought he played well too.
His distribution is excellent, although on 3 occasions he was too slow in making the pass and he was closed down.

Again, without banging in about it over and over, but Liam has gone from the LOI to the Champions League in 3 years. This should be the pathway template we strive for in this country.

Andy Lyons will hopefully be the next one to follow in this vain. After a good start at Blackpool, a personal tragedy set him back this season. If he can kick on again, he has great potential to move up the leagues

If you had told me when I was watching him be part of a UCD defence that conceded 10 against Bohs 4 years ago that he'd be playing CL, I'd have laughed at you. Great character shown by him to hang on for his chance and do well when he got it.

I'd love to think that Liam's progression could be an inspiration to other LOI payers.

Think this is no harm. He will be an important player for us but fair play to SK for withdrawing and dropping him.

Has played a few lovely passes for Celtic today that they really should have scored from. Going from strength to strength. The fact he was surplus to requirements for them prior to an injury crisis doesn't say much for Celtic.

You might not have seen him play last year for Celtic, looked out of his depth. Loan move to Aberdeen got him up to speed and most importantly took his chances since he got in. You say it doesn’t say much for Celtic yet they were the team that signed him from LoI and gave him his chances this year when injuries occurred including keeping him in the team after Nate Phillips was signed. Actually says quite a lot about Celtic.

He didn't play last year for Celtic, they bombed him out after a bad game against Bodo/Glimt (where the whole team was terrible). Shocking club who have got lucky to "discover" a good player.

Sean is right. He played 13 games for Celtic and he was not great at all. He went to Aberdeen, played a full season with them, came back to Celtic and looked a completely different player.

He got a second chance and took it.

Also,  if he is not blessed with speed he is not going to suit Ange’s style of football.

Just because a manager doesn’t pick a player it doesn’t mean they are not good enough, it just means the manager doesn’t thing they suit the style they are playing.  They may work at another club or under another manager.  As Celtic fans know Ange has very specific ideas on who suits his teams and who doesn’t.

He was perfectly fine except for one bad game against the aforementioned, where as I've said the whole team was terrible. He'd be playing for St Mirren now if Celtic hadn't been forced into using him, the mighty Celtic probably would have signed a painter/decorator from the Honduran 3rd division in his place!

Do you think Scales has the pace to play a very high line the way that Ange likes to play.  Not so sure he does.

Fair dues to the lad for taking his chance and he deserved his call up to the squad last month but his lack of pace is a definite weak spot.

I noticed in the Gibraltar away game during the second half, they had a nippy little forward who turned Scales too easy in the middle of the pitch and sped away leaving him for dead. It didn't come to anything in the end but a cause for concern.

I would definitely fear for him being caught out in a high line against higher quality strikers as he doesn't have the acceleration to recover in a similar situation.
Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.
