Id personally consider him at LWB before I’d consider him at CB. He’s very good on the ball and is actually good defensively unlike the other options. Has also played the position so knows it.

CB isn’t as pressing an issue for us so many other options we could bring in for there.

I don't think he has the pace and attacking threat to be an effective LWB. I think we should give him a go at LCB. There's potential for him to break in and make that position his own

Probably not quick or agile enough for LWB at the top level, could do a job as LB in a flat back 4 though.
We're decent enough..

That would be my thinking - I'd like to see us go to a back 4 vs Greece. Our back 5 didnt work vs Greece last time, I think a 4-3-3/4-5-1 is the way to go for these two games and I'd be starting Scales at LB.

He did well again tonight, another assured performance, his distribution is excellent and out of all 4/5 center halves at Celtic he is looking like number 1, at least until CCV gets back to full fitness.

Agree with SS above - he doesn't have any pace, so I don't think he could play at LWB.

He should be included in the Ireland squad on merit.

"Well he's outstanding. I'm so happy for him. Probably one of the biggest surprises I would say in my career as a coach. And only because I hadn't seen him play so much and there were other ones ahead of him.

Through others leaving and being injured, I've seen enough in training to give him the opportunity. But how he's taken it, you ideally want a left-sided centre-half in your team that has good pace and intelligence and he's all that.

I think you see him and how he's playing and performing and growing as a player. I'm so happy for him because he's got pressure over from Ireland and there's a big focus on the Irish players when they come to here. But he's been outstanding and obviously delighted for him that he's now in the Republic of Ireland squad too."

Another solid display from Liam. Definitely had some tough moments against Greizman, but so do the majority of defenders he comes up against.
