Hibs appeal Miller's red

SPL side Hibs will do all they can to defend Irish midfielder Liam Miller following his red card offence last weekend.

Miller is facing a three-match ban after the referee in last week's SPL clash with Kilmarnock judged that his tackle on fellow Irishman Conor Sammon was "violent conduct" but the club are backing an appeal for the Corkman.

"The appeal has gone in," said assistant manager Derek Adams.

"We've appealed against the sending-off, which was for violent conduct.

"We'll see what happens.

"Hopefully the SFA look at it quickly and we get a decision as soon as possible.

"Looking at the video evidence we don't believe that the case is a sending-off for violent conduct."

All the hype about millar years ago even United were taken in by it ffs. At 29 he can only hope for Championship football at best. Like O'Shea he has no courage as a player.

Never rated Miller - which was a shame because the talk about him was good. Remember waatching a  him play in a friendly against Serbia (think it was them anyway.) He ws useless, way off the pace and just gave away stupid fouls  - which led to their goal. Would struggle to join a championship club imo.

As for O'Shea lacking courage Confused I'm no United fan  - but can't have that!

I am.. well before "Glazer" in essence but I have seen O'Shea play and he lacks courage. He hasn't that toughness to make a good player. He should have gone to another club and cemented a position for himself and progressed his game, but instead he stayed at United for the money. He has had his chances at United to nail down a place but he has been beaten out everytime by other players brought into the club.

I remember at the time how everyone was saying the move to United was madness. Had no idea it would be the catalyst for destroying his career in the manner it has though. Probably one of the worst career decisions an Irish player has made...and it's rare you'd say that about someone going to Old Trafford!

His stats are shocking. Wikipedia only show league appearances which is pony but the fact he is yet to play 100 games for a team is a fairly poor return

Remember seeing him at Luton(how the mighty have fallen!) for leeds in the second tier, whatever it was called that season. Was best player on the pitch in the first half and my English mate kept asking me why Celtic and United let him go. First minute of the second half Kevin Nicholls went straight through him and took the yellow card. Miller was subbed twenty minutes later having not touched the ball since. Fast forward to Hibs and dundee united 5 years later and a carbon copy, half an hour of brilliance followed by a kick and anonymity.

Remember that goal against Sweden under Stan? I came away from that match thinking we were going to rule the world with that team.

LOL Didn't we all! That's probably the most carried away I've gotten about our national team - went home and watched the whole match again on TV3! LOL
