To be fair, people are really quick to pass judgement here.
He was overlooked at Reading initially because of his size. Having seen him play a good number of times, I was impressed by his technical ability - OK, so he's no Zidane but still thought he was decent. He was playing week in and week out at a team near the top of the championship so it wasn't unreasonable to wonder whether he could play for his.
When the managers changed at Reading he was overlooked. He's played something like only 20 games in the last 18 months so it's not mad to think that any development he could have made would have been held back by this. If he plays week in and week out for Oxford then he might well kick on again.

I'd have confidence he will turn it around. Saw him for Reading against United last year in the FA Cup and he was very good.

Fcuk me. Oxford. From Feyenoord to Oxford. Look back a little bit. He was staring with Reading and got an international call up. Refused it and where has he gone since then. Might be a while before he ever gets one again.

People do realise that Oxford are fourth in the table and in contention for going up? It is also within an hour of where he is from. There’s never any grey areas on YBIG! He was the next big thing a year ago( when he wasn’t), gets a big move that doesn’t work out and now he has no hope of playing for Ireland again.
As is so often the case, the truth is somewhere in the middle. He clearly has ability, but there were questions about him at Reading that still haven’t been answered. This seems a good move for him though. Robinson’s style should suit his abilities too. A good six months and he could be a world beater again!
