Putting the disappointment of last night behind us( which isn't easyCry) Lets take the positives from a fantastic campaign.
*Drawing twice with world champions
*Only losing once(via a poxy deflection)
*Progression of new players, namely St. Ledger, Whelan, Andrews and Lawrence
*Moving out of GAA HQ back to AVIVA( or Landsdowne Road as it will be affectionately known to us all!)
*Meets arranged by YBIG in pub before home games(keep them up lads, its as good as an away athmosphere)
*Given and Kilbane reaching milestone 100 capsClap
*Bari locals- top folks
*Trap WILL get us to EURO 2012

Feel free to add your highlights to list

Will the beating of France over 90mins help boost our World Ranking position somewhat??

Just trying to take positives but if we could return to being 2nd seeds again it would be really good!!

The rankings are out tomorrow so we shall see, but all results go down after 90 minutes, and we won 1-0. We should get a decent amout of points for beating a side that are, what?, 30 places ahead in the rankings? Its a joke how the North are still ahead.

Are there any positives now?

- travel to away games will be cheaper with no demand (Denmark travel can be done for €100 return)
- there's less likelihood of "casuals" style w**kers at away games
- it is very unlikely there will be a Glasgow style ticket fiasco any time soon
- there'll be plenty of legroom at upcoming matches, what with crowds being below 30,000
- scientists have found a new cure for insomnia
- if we're third seeds rather than second, we might see better football played in the Aviva... by our opposition

I try to be positive , but these are the dark days again we have been there before and we will come out of it .
The best part of things as the hardcore fans will always be there and this what makes the whole journey of life worth while .

The only sort of positives right now are that we have some exceptionally talented players aged between 16-20. If even four or five of these lads manage to break through at Premier League level within the next five years then we might just be ok.

EDIT: If we could just manage to hold onto Declan Rice I think that would be a great boost going into the qualifiers proper, but I do fear that recent results and off field rumblings may sway his decision to play for England.

Forget Rice! Everyone’s mood lifted when we saw Arter was coming back. And then everyone realised that he didn’t play well in his return.

The movement is bigger than any one person.

James McCarthy is closing in a return
Robbie Brady is closing in a return
Declan Rice has not yet confirmed he is switching to England.
Looks like at underage the age groups are a bit more stacked with more than one good looking player.
O'Neill admitting he was impressed with the Wales approach and how the young players did well for them and it's something he would consider, wirh N.Ireland being a proper friendly and Denmark likely being dead rubber for us, maybe we could see a couple of those promoted to the senior team.

Listening to Off the Ball last night and they said MON refers to Matt Doherty as "young Doherty". He's 26 yrs old.

Wales had a bunch of teenagers playing away from home and outplayed us.

I sometimes scratch my head and think how MON made a living out of management. I really do. He must have been some motivatot back in the day because he doesnt seem very good at it now and his tactical nous is that of pub football team level.

"Cyrus me aul pal. Dave is at a wedding this weekend so cant play. Fancy playing midfield this week?"

and one other thing, when we qualify (if we do) it gives us 'die hards' a great sense of 'we've been there through thick and thin its a great feeling'
the night in paris after Sweden all our regulars met up and it was great..okay this is slightly off the point

Good point.  We'd be able to go to a tournament with the feeling 'we deserve this' after putting up with sitting in a half-empty LR on a miserable night in March watching an absolute drudge of a match against the likes of Oman and Iceland while the event-junkies were sitting on some bar stool or their sofa and swearing that they wouldn't watch that load of shoite if they got paid.
The nation holds it's breath...YES, WE'RE THERE!!!
