Some interesting changes at Atletico. Miranda and Mandzukic gone, Turan and Alderweireld probably going as well. Vietto and Martinez coming in, along with Correa's return from injury, Oliver potentially returning from his loan.
Some great young players at the club now. Kranevitter looks like he might be joining them. Oblak: 22 Vietto: 21 Correa: 20 Oliver: 20 Gimenez: 20 Saul: 20 Koke: 23 Griezmann: 24 |

Valencia president Salvo as well as Rufete and Ayala on the way out of the club. They aren't happy how Lim and Mendes are doing business.
Probably not happy the Rodrigo Caio transfer fell through due to a failed medical. Caio now having a medical at Atletico. Mendes basically controls the club now. All players coming in are his clients. |

It's a horrible situation but Mendes and Lim will both say,if we didn't come into the club, they would be nowhere near the top 4 again. As regards Caio,3 doctors advised the club to not sign him based on medical evidence,it would have been a massive gamble

New Rayo jersey. Each jersey sold will see €7 donated to charities represented by each of the seven colours. The colours represent: Cancer (Red) Disability (Orange) Depression (Yellow) The environment (Green) Child abuse (Blue) Domestic violence (Pink) The six colours combine to form a rainbow, which represents gay equality. There's also a 3rd jersey. Each sale will see a donation go towards the fight against cancer. If that isn't enough to make you like them...there's this taken from Sid Lowe's review of the La Liga season "Carmen Martínez Ayudo is 85, she’s a widow, and she lives in a small flat on Calle Sierra de Palomeras in the working-class neighbourhood of Vallecas, to the east of Madrid, just as she has done for the last 50 years. Or at least she did until the bailiffs came to evict her, with the help of a load of policemen, after her son defaulted on €40,000 that, unbeknownst to her, he’d secured on her home via a local loan shark. So it was that Carmen was out on the street, until a group of men came to her rescue. Those men are footballers and they play for Rayo Vallecano, coach Paco Jémez leading them into finding a new flat for Carmen, paying her rent and paying regular visits ever since. “We couldn’t just stand there,” Jémez said" Banners were hung all round the three-sided ground. “Carmen Stays”, said one. “The pride of a neighbourhood”, said another. At the end, another declared: “The evictions of a sick state/the solidarity of a working-class neighbourhood.” A football club has vowed to pay the rent for an 85-year-old woman evicted from her home because her son could not pay his debts. Carmen Martínez Ayudo was driven from her home after her son had used it as security for a €40,000 loan from an individual. Ayudo, from Vallecas – a working-class area of Madrid, Spain – was later told the local football club Rayo Vallecano would pay her rent for the rest of her life. She said: “I’ve no more tears to cry.” Ayudo’s plight came after ownership of the home was transferred to her son following the death of her husband. Ayudo knew nothing of the debt, which now stands at €70,000, or the eviction until police arrived to remove her from the property a month ago. A local anti-eviction committee managed to win her a brief reprieve, during which she says she was terrified and unable to sleep. On Friday, seven police vans arrived for the eviction. Ayudo, who worked as a cleaner, said: “I’ve worked all my life, getting up at 6am to work like a slave and then all of a sudden they come to take everything away when all I want is to be left in peace.” “We’re not going to stand around and do nothing, we’re going to help this woman,” said Paco Jémez, the coach at Rayo, currently 13th in the Spanish first division. “Not just me but the technical team and the players. We’ll give her a hand to find a place where she can live in dignity and not feel abandoned.” Jémez added that he would like to help more people but it wasn’t possible. “In this case, because she’s from the neighbourhood, as a club we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to help.” There were 67,000 evictions in Spain in 2013 while an estimated 3.4m properties stand empty. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/nov/23/spanish-football-club-rayo-vallecano-helps-woman-85-evicted-son-loses-house-debt http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/jun/20/2014-15-review-la-liga-the-sids Edited by tribalarmy - 01 Jul 2015 at 3:09pm |

Arda Turan signs for Barca. Great player, not sure how he'll fit in at Barca though. €34m + €7m bonuses. Not bad for Atletico, signed him for €12m a few years ago and he was exceptional for them.

Stefan Savic the latest to join Atletico.
Jonathas on his way to Soceidad, huge loss for Elche, great signing for Moyes, has to be challenging for Europe with his squad now. |

Tribal, for the sake of argument, if the EPL and La Liga were merged into a 40 team division played over two seasons what do you think the top 10 would look like. This season, I'd go for: 1: Barca 2: Real 3: Chelsea 4: Atleti 5: Arsenal 6: United 7: Valencia 8: City 9: Sevilla 10: Villareal Maybe this isn't the thread for it so a mod can move if they think that's the best thing to do. |

Barcelona
Real Madrid Atletico Valencia Sevilla Athletic Club Villarreal Real Socediad Chelsea Manchester City Manchester United Arsenal Liverpool Spurs Everton Swansea Combined Barcelona Real Madrid ------------------------------ Chelsea Atletico Madrid Manchester City ---------------------------- Manchester United Arsenal Valencia Sevilla ------------------------------- Liverpool Athletic Club Spurs ------------------------------- Real Soceidad Villarreal Everton Swansea Malaga Celta Vigo Southampton Based on the squads as they are today I'd go for something like that. Although if Sevilla had played any English team, except Chelsea, in the knock-out stages in Europe last season I would have expected them to advance. There would be fairly large gaps where those lines are as well. |

Valencia have quietly spent 100m+ this summer already. Guess Peter Lim has opened the checkbook now with the FFP rules being a bit more lax. Wonder how they will do this year, Nuno seems like the real deal as a coach.

They spent around €90m on Rodrigo, Gomes, Cancelo and Negredo who were all at the club on loan last season, so the €100m+ outlay hasn't brought too many changes. Mat Ryan in goals for Alves who is injured, and then the three 19 year olds, Santi Mina, Barbosa and Bakkali. I think Santi Mina could be a great signing. |
