Cricket is hugely popular due to the nations like India adopting it as their national sport.

Plus, with no football on during the summer, plenty of Brits watch cricket. 2.12 million people watched an Ashes test match on Sky this summer. That's just one day.

There's no other sport on

It doesn't matter - Had there been other sport on, the test match is still making the TV news in the UK as it's the Ashes.

They may say it works, but according to what is trending on twitter, it isn't JustStopOil, but Johnny Bairstow who removed on of the protestors from the field. Undoubtedly, like the lad on the snooker table, the image of Bairstow and the protestor will be sold by JSO as some sort of new age mantra for eco-activism. But they are running the risk of having eco-activism categorised alongside animal rights activism, which is now seen as fringe, extremist, and is broadly ignored.

Hopefully Bairstow sees jail time for assaulting the protestor.

An Ashes Test (especially at Lord's) is probably in the top 3 most popular sporting spectacles in the UK.

the highest TV viewing figures world wide for a sporting event held in Ireland was Pakistan v India cricket match held in Clontarf in 1999.
Where'd you see this? Can't find any record of the game even happening online

He wouldn't set me free,
So he kept me soul for ransom.

it is a question often seen in sports quizzes, the game was supposedly watched by over a billion people worldwide. The  cricket world cup was held in England that year, but Clontarf was given the Pakistan v India group game.

It says that one game was held in Ireland and it was a group B game. Group B didn't have India in it. India Pakistan was played in Old Trafford and India didn't make it to the semis.

Bangladesh v West Indies was the only game played at Clontarf.

I'd imagine it was the Bangladesh v West Indies game he meant.

And was it the highest TV viewing figures world wide for a sporting event held in Ireland? Doesn't sound right.

I'm currently looking to source a N95 mask so I can dander out into the city of Toronto for the next few days. What will the cities of North America be like in 10 years? Masks for 4 months, or even uninhabitable.

More power to their protests. But it's too late.

We are all f**ked
It would damage this forums' reputation
