I read at the time things had been going missing from players in the dressing room for some while so Blackburn set up a surveillance operation with some cameras to catch the perpetrator in the act.....so maybe Bruce was part of a sting operation to catch him in the act?

What an absolute d!ckhead thing to say about someone if not entirely true.  

If he "beat up" a girl I'm sure he went to court for it?

There's no doubt he was wild in his youth, got into a few scraps, etc. But to say he beat up a girl is a stretch. He'd have a criminal record for that if he did

He had only been at United a few weeks when a similar story was doing the rounds about Keane having a fight in a pub, with a girl again.
