Just seen the interview about his mother. Clap

A fully fit in form Walters is still our best striker overall. He's one of the most intelligent strikers we've ever had.

Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

For the role he has played, 14 goals is an excellent return.

As clichéd as it is, he is a proper old school player. His use of his body to win frees, unsettle defenders, and shield the ball is excellent. The home game against Austria sums him up, brutal service all day and still was a handful and scored a cracker too.

One of my favourite Irish players.

Agreed.Fantastic player for us with a great attitude. Now, if only MON would stop playing him out of position and when he's no way near fit.

I think he's a player whose talents diminish less with age than others because he was never going to beat anyone in a footrace. His strength, finishing and intelligence are still the same as they were before. Happy to have him around for another campaign.
No thank you Turkish......I'm sweet enough

You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

great player for Ireland but we're in a period of transition and unfortunately he could hold players back if he sticks around....thanks for everything Johnny but you should move on Nate

Its the experience he will bring in and around the squads, a great foil for the younger lads to learn from, Johnny Clap

Have absolutely no problem with Walters staying on, but he cant be a starter anymore... I have a horrible feeling O'Neill will persist with him and Long over the likes of "young" Hogan and Maguire.

100% agree. Great option to have, once it's only up front, and not out wide.

That's down to the manager tho. Have no issues with wanting to keep themselves available as long as they want. I actually love the commitment it shows. Manager has to manage it. The likes of Cas and Moran hung around long after they were starters and added value to the squad.

it's been our problem for years that we hold onto forward players for too long.....Quinn,Keane and now Walters....meaning the forwards coming behind them are making there debuts later and taking longer to get up to international level or having the chance to try and make international level.which in the long run means we have a forward unproven at 25/26 years of age by the time they get regular games and up to speed they could be 28/29 so we hardly get the best of them.i understand having Walters around but we know him as a player inside out (plus can he come back even 80% the player he was??) we need to move on....give his place in the squad to a young striker and let's give the younger lads a chance to be around squads and train with senior lads.

It's up to the manager to bring younger players through, it's not the older players responsibility.
