JD is to appear before the Oireachtas Committee for Transport, Tourism and Sport to answer questions on governance within the FAI and the National League on the 20th of February.

It's not Shane Ross that will be asking questions, on the Oireachtas committee is a high profile TD who is a major national team fan who travels to a lot of away matches.  How effective these Oireachtas Committee meetings is a valid question. Are they just box ticking procedures?  But if the right questions are asked, they could wipe away some of the smugness off JD.

Is this TD a member of a supporters club ??

He's very much an independent traveller, a government TD who is never afraid to speak his mind.

Catherine Murph will also be asking questions both very well briefed. He rang all the TDS on the committee when he was up before trying to rule out any awkward questions.

The Article in the sun last week about requests for prepayments of grants in advance will add a bit of spice.
One City,One County,One Club GUFC will be back.

They'll just say cash flow at the start of the year due to lack of game revenue between Nov-March

Ruth Coppinger is also on that committee.  Irrespective of people's political affiliations, Ruth is not afraid to ask probing questions and I certainly wouldn't like to be on the receiving end of her style of questioning and remember this is conducted on camera with clips often shown on national TV news.

I agree, the Sun piece was excellent particularly the facts in numbers on the right hand side of the article on the newspaper(they were not on the online piece Im pretty sure).   The figures quoted would be enough for any CEO in any normal organisation to resign years ago but we are still stuck with our glorious leader.

Yes it does sound like an interesting evening.  Aodhán is another national team fan, I have seen him at a lot of games and I get the impression he in involved or interested in many strands of Irish football.

One thing that struck me in his message, "Football is important. Time for politics to take it seriously."  Hits the nail on the head precisely.   Under the "Stewardship" of our game by JD, our game at all strands has fallen rapidly in terms of importance in Irish society.  It is not taken seriously by most.  Leadership and example comes from the top.  We haven't had much of that the past 15 years.

If the GAA and IRFU was led in the same way, there would have been major  call to action from the political world but not with football as it is not deemed important anymore. Fair dues to Aodhán.
