Well I for one am shocked

Very out of character
Well the Germans beat them 13-0 and the Czechs beat them 7-0 so that suggests they are tightening things up at the back

Shocked?

Seems you should be - Joey wasn't actually involved.

Happened to see the headline in the Sun when I was waiting in the barbers, so I took a closer look.

For one thing, it wasn't his stag do, he was just one of the party (probably).

It was hardly a brawl, more two guys having a go at each other, with a couple more joining in before the rest pulled them back. Police arrived, no arrests, "Nothing to see here, move along".

And how do we know all this? Someone on the promenade filmed it all on their phone. If you look at the pics, Barton was nowhere to be seen, and the Sun was very keen to make clear that he had no part in the scuffle. (Lawyered up?)

Indeed, the only connection they could make was that he was (allegedly) part of the large group. And even there, the only direct quote was from a publican, who said the group had been in earlier, behaved ok, nothing more than you'd expect from a group of lads in Newquay on a Bank Holiday.

When Joey was pointed out, he signed some autographs, and posed for selfies, no bother.

“Joseph Barton, 36, of Fox Bank Close, Widnes, has been charged with actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 assault and has been bailed to appear before Barnsley Magistrates Court on Wednesday 9 October 2019."

From the Barnsley game.

Won't be Joey's fault though.
Wink

Joey Barton has left Fleetwood.

Not sure if he was sacked or he has resigned?

Sacked. The club owner Andy Pilley has put out a statement saying it was a difficult decision but he felt it was time for the club to move in a new direction.

It's not looking good for Joey.

Another bad defeat for Bristol Rovers yesterday.
