Can't believe Championship clubs aren't lining up to sign him. How much would he cost?

Derby would likely want £5m+ for someone out of contract next summer.

Really, when Josh Cullen went for £3mn? Anyway, please somebody/anybody make a bid!

Perhaps the lad wants to move abroad and he can talk to clubs outside England in January and Derby could end up getting nowt. If he goes to an English club next season, Derby will still get a development fee and a sizeable one at that given his international status, so that may be why they are willing to turn down a fee now - it's a gamble on their part though.

It's a gamble but one they're probably willing to play until January at least. Honestly think they could get £2m in compensation for him. They can only sign players on frees or loans, and have a small squad. Can see them accepting an offer for around £2m in January for the lad.

Liam Rosenior, who introduced tactical masterstrokes such as "Jason Knight to right back", has been demoted from the manager position at Derby.

Just watched the match again today and he does a lot of running but little else, some of this passing was very poor too.

Not his greatest game.

Agreed, thought he did a lot of hard running off the ball, which was important tbf, but did very little on it. He'll have better days.

This is Jason Knight I’m afraid. It’s why he’ found himself out of the Derby team at times last season and shunted out to RB this season, where he’s done fairly well by all accounts. I don’t see him being a quality #10 going forward but who knows.

Not really. He started 31 of the 39 Championship games he was available for last season.

He missed the first 5 games of the season due to an injury at the hands of his own manager. lol.

He missed two other games and the Azerbaijan game through illness and a knock.

Knight's versatility works against him in some ways. Not having a set position can affect a player's development. O'Shea looked great at LB for United during 2002/2003. But ended up becoming a utility player instead of focusing on a set position. Still a good player, but could have been more.

Knight is a good player. If he's going to be playing League One football, he should be trying to get into double digits for goals & assists if he ends up playing in midfield under the new manager.

Paul Warne has been playing 3-5-2 with Rotherham for awhile now and wouldn't be shocked if Knight ends up as a RWB under him. Did it with Ogbene for most of last season and didn't move him into the attacking positions until after we played Belgium.

Warne seems to prefer athleticism and speed from his wing backs. Norton-Cruffy has played that position this season. A really good prospect on loan from Arsenal. And he used Ogbene in that role last season.

Rathbone, a CM, has played LWB at times. So maybe he will.

Ebosele would have been perfect for Warne.

Obviously from our pov, it would be great if he used Knight in any of the three central midfield positions given that is also how we set up. I personally see Knight as an 8, rather than a 6 or a 10, a proper box to box type. I dont think RWB would be a particularly good use of his skill set, but after Doherty there arent exactly a plethora of lads coming through in that position, so there's that - trouble is we probably need midfielders even more critically.

Knight escaping any sort of criticism but thought he was very quiet these two games. A shadow of the player we saw in previous windows.

Obafemi got a hard time for kicking off over not getting his transfer but maybe Knight should be taking a leaf out of his book. Have to kick on when you have momentum. Don't see him playing PL football tbh now and if he's not careful he will linger down in L1 for his career. A wing back in L1 is embarrassing really for a midfield player of his talent.

He's not a 10 and we should stop playing him there, he's probably better at RWB
