Why, as someone who is himself a "paddy", would I want to do that?

However 'pateen' got it right.

Tbf, no Englishman or Scots Protestant is going to come out on national radio over there and say he's right not to wear the poppy (no matter if they hold such an opinion privately). Sounds like an entirely pointless conversation really, unless they have a contrary viewpoint on there?

What else would you expect from one of the most historically bigoted countries in the world. All the places I've been and I've only received abuse over there and witnessed abuse of other races over there wide out in the open. And the amount of absolute sh*te they chat about countries like Hungary and Italy having endemic racism problems when they get an opportunity to smugly get on a pulpit.

If anyone can't see why James, of all people, doesn't want to wear that stupid poppy, then they're xenophobic and shouldn't have a platform.

Does anyone actually listen to talksport? It used to be 99% ads and 1% conversation. Has it changed? Disaster of a station as i remember it. They all get worked up about the poppy in November. I wonder how many of these people give the armed forces a 2nd thought the rest of the year. Not many id imagine.

Where was all this poppy lark in football in the 90s?  Nowhere.

Just a recruitment drive for cannon fodder for the next pointless war

I'd say a lot listen to talksport. Can't remember ever getting a taxi in Liverpool or Leeds/Bradford during football season without talksport being on the radio.
