McClean ruled out for 6 weeks

Might miss the “he’s happy enough to take the queens pound but won’t wear a poppy” little Englander fury season

There was an article on the BBC MOTD facebook page about McClean getting injured - the comments underneath were hilarious.

On the grand stage of things I know we have bigger problems but he needs to be dropped. Last few games he’s offered nothing except terribly crosses and cynical fouls.

The 2 players that needed to come off early in the second half was McClean and Christie.

Both tried their best and I thought Christie did relatively well in the first half, Christie was lost in the second half and McClean was clearly unfit and struggling in the second half.

Why did the manager not make these changes?

He wasn't awful tonight, but going forward I think there's little doubt that he either has to play on the left wing or not at all.
We're decent enough..

James McClean suspended for the game in Denmark next month. I suspect he'll still come over for the friendly with Northern Ireland.

LOL

Not a chance he'll sit out that game

We have a player in the same league as McClean, starting as Left Wing back in a back 5 system. The team he plays for also happen to be top of the league.

Imagine if they played players in their correct positions.

McClean had a decent World Cup qualifying campaign, but he is a hard working yet very technically limited left winger. Not a wing back, not a No.10/free role as he was against Denmark at home last year.

Going forward he isn't too bad, it is his defensive play that's atrocious.

Exactly good going forward but is a total liability could easily have been sent off last night. Wasn't booked until his 3rd or 4th heavy challenge, I referee with more discipline would/could have sent him off for his first challenge on Wilson I believe it was.

Yeah, was very fortunate. His passion and commitment is great to see as fans, but it is often more of a hindrance than a help.
