Does anyone really care though?

I do, but then I find these statistical outliers interesting. I know they're not for everyone. Usually you get an answer though, it's unusual that nobody seems to know in the case.

Or maybe nobody else cares?!!!!! Im only joking around a bit in fairness!!

Yeah I thought he played well when he came on and then I met a person outside the ground and he said it was one of the worst performances from him in an Ireland shirt and I was thinking were we watching the same game!

Can’t remember who the player was but it was in 1984, read it the other day.

The alternatives are:

Stevens - who everyone crucified for his performance vs France
O'Dowda - injured and gave away a goal vs Greece
Manning - the worst player to have donned an Irish shirt since Joseph Lapira according to YBIG

Based on his instagram post today I'd imagine he's thinking about calling it a day with international football now

McClean outplayed the players above and was included on merit. His deliveries were excellent in the 2 games and he was involved in any of the chances we created.

Secondly, he was partly at fault for the second goal - because Ireland didn't deal with Holland formation changes and ultimately he got caught on this - but if you look back - you'll see him berating Knight as he was wandering off which he was the one who got punished on this.

Plus his last 6 competitive games have been one in the Championship (2nd tier), 2 internationals, one in League 2 (fourth tier btw) and now 2 internationals. Whatever about the long term effect of playing at a lower level, I think it's safe to assume that he's probably not declined that much as a footballer since leaving Wigan in June as a result of playing one League Two game.

Also the alternatives are pretty sh*te with 2 of them demonstrating that they are certainly no better than him over the last week. Plus he doesnt wear the f**king poppy! Good luck to him, I'd say that's it for him now, always liked him, wears his heart on his sleeve, 102 caps, 11 international goals, not to be sniffed at!

Put in some dangerous corners. I was surprised we didn't get more out of them.

Agree, the L2 issue is such a lazy argument. Especially when you have no clear alternative. I'd say that's his last involvement and always gave his all.

McClean was not the problem last night.  I'm sure his days are coming to an end because of his age, but as it stands there's bigger issues going on.

Yup will be 35 going into the NLs next year and if he hung around for the next qualifiers he'd be 36 a month after the first game. He'll see out these qualifier and wouldn't be surprised if it was announced that NZ is his last game for us.

Was poor for the winner! Left back is our weakest position so would hope he would see out the campaign.

I love James but is there any point, nothing really to play for at this stage. We need to blood replacements for both himself and Stevens whose own Irish career cant have long to run either. Time to give Manning a few games to see if he can cut it.
