I wonder what happens to this money? The RBL is the wealthiest of Britain's ten biggest military charities. Between them, these ten have combined assets of £1.4 billion, plus reserves of £277 million, prompting increasingly angry accusations of 'cash hoarding. This never seems to get questioned in the Brits media.

What a load of crap ! Any other player getting racial abuse and the FA go to town on the guilty but James has to "Live " with it ! The chants that he posted on his Instagram 2 weeks ago were disgusting and are clear as day for all to hear but nothing will ever be done about it . |

Murdoch media empire and Sky in particular started pushing it in 2003 to garner support for the illegal war in Iraq. Think Leicester were the first to put them on the shirt. Snowballed from there.

I think Stan Collymore is pretty much the only person who's been brave enough to call out the racist abuse and lack of support he's receiving.

A number of teams had already followed Leicester's lead after 2003 by then though. Am pretty sure it was 2003 when it first appeared.

Good summary on McClean in MON's autobiography.
Remembered for his goals against Austria and Wales, what gets noticed less is a few last-ditch tackles in our own box which saved very likely goals - and from an attacking player getting all the way back there - says it all about his character.
“James McClean was at Sunderland when I arrived and I gave him his debut and, honestly, he was a breath of fresh air,” says the 1982 World Cup star. “He became an instant hero with the crowd and did brilliantly and then the crowd turned against him because of the poppy incident where he didn’t want to wear a poppy or refused to do that and then not only visiting fans would give him stick for that but also the Sunderland fans. “I have to say, though, that James McClean did marvellously for me both at club level and international level. In fact, in the 2018 World Cup campaign after the Euros in 2016, he took on the mantle as our main man trying to get us to Russia. “He did brilliantly for me and I have the utmost regard for James McClean.” |
