delighted for him that trap is keeping an eye on him , and personally hope that he plays a blinder the rest of the season and forces himself in. let's see how it goes...

Agreed, any indicator that the channels of communication have improved is good news.

I would love to see him get into Liverpools midfield tomorrow night and lay a marker two games running. Thumbs Up

I watched McCarthy against Chelsea, and throughout the game he was interrupting Chelsea's play.

It was brilliant to watch, it looked like trap's tactics in full flow. I reckon James will most definitely make the Euro's.

Also, have to say I have been very impressed with Whelan and Andrews this year. I am a big Villa fan and would be absolutely delighted if we can get him.

He is class for Ipswich, playing with so much belief.

Hoolahan is another who is having an absolutely brilliant season. For Gibson, I would love to see him get a loan move, and play week in week out. I think he is a confidence player and would really thrive when playing every week.

Sadly, I don't think Fahey will make it, he was very good last night for Birmingham but I think our other options are better.

I'd imagine Hoolahan's chances of going to Euro 2012 have suffered a hammer blow after that draw. Unhappy

Hopefully Trapattoni at least calls him up and gives him a proper chance against Czech Republic but I sincerely doubt that will happen.

isnt it just plain wrong that some lads out of mccarthy, holohan, fahey, gibson wont make the squad while mcshane can sit back on the hull bench knowing he is on that plane?

just a thought, if McCarthy does impress against Liverpool, could they snap him up in January as a replacement for Lucas?
He went on trial there briefly when he was still at Hamilton, and impressed Gerrard in a practise game IIRC

They could have bought him for next to nothing, but Benitez didn't make a move. Scored an absolute belter in a training game too. And spool forward 4 years and he played Gerrard off the park and Wigan won 1-0.

Liverpool could have bought him for 1 mil but he ended up going to Wigan as they were guaranted him first team football.

You'd be doing well to get him for less than 10 mil.
McCarthy, Fahey and possibly Gibson will all be on the plane to Poland.
Trap has said that if Gibson does'nt get game time that he will be left behind.

Yeah it was kinda getting off the topic. And handbags arguments are never fun to read.

Has there been anything suggesting that James McCarthy might make it to the senior squad for the Russia game?? Trap ruled out calling in anyone else before the Slovakia game, but didn't mention Russia. I think McCarthy would be great to have an off the bench option of against the Ruskis!

wonder if there's a chance he will be called up to the senior team after this match? Think the Russia game would be the one where he would most likely could be used anyway (as part of 5 man midfield)
