Its been nearly 2 years since the big man died and there is nothing being done for him over here.  All the sh*t at the time was ''oh we will honour him when circumstances allow etc''.   Nothing has been done or even in the pipeline in terms of getting a statue made.  I think its a disrace tbh.

How much does one cost and is is difficult to get planning permission?   Could we do it ourselves as the powers that be clearly couldn't be arsed.

Pat Kenny will just sue because it's too close to his property.

Whats 2 years?

It took nearly 20 years for a Phil Lynott statue and 35 years for Luke Kellys statue in Dublin.

They're not exactly cheap. You're probably talking about €100k for something similar to the Cork statues size these days. Whos going to pay for that?

To be fair, I think you could raise that via a JustGivining / GoFund Me page. It's the type of thing the media would get behind I think.

I think you'd have a better chance of petitioning the FAI to get one of the stands in the Aviva named The Jack Charlton Stand.

Of course, it's not straightforward with the IRFU being involved as well.

It's a really poor show by the FAI that there has been no official major celebration of Charlton's life and achievements at any of the games since his passing.

None of the stands have names, can’t see it happening. Maybe Dublin City council could do something.

To be fair he did die during the height of the pandemic and there was 18 months of games behind closed doors / restricted crowds.

They wore black arm bands and had a moment silence, had images on screen and few dozen social media posts remembering him when he did pas and again on his 1 year anniversary.

Im not entirely sure what else they could have done given their situation.

To be fair to them, they did honour him when he was alive in 2015 against England at the beginning of his illness when was still able to travel and meet old faces for a pint and chat.

Didnt they actually name the bar in premium the Jack Charlton lounge then too?
