Outside of Antrim it's like any other rural part of Ireland.

Not strictly a political matter, but the situation at The Irish Times has created a bit of a ripple internationally, where it appears the editorial process was duped by an AI generated submission about fake-tan and cultural appropriation.

I just read about that, how does the Irish Times decide what articles to print? can anybody randomly send an article into them in the hope that they might print it? Whats the process involved?

Yeah I'm not sure really, was it a letter to the editor?

I think so. I know people who have sent in articles on an unsolicited basis that have been published. But these are usually extremely topical, bespoke to a certain segment of the newspaper, have been peer reviewed, and are people with existing journalistic or professional standing.

I suspect the IT gets flooded with unsolicited drivel that wouldn't even make the first pass for inclusion in the letters section, let alone be given standalone column inches. I cant remember which UK periodical it was, but they had very limiting detailed standards for independent/unsolicited subscriptions, and I recall them clearly stating that articles offering a response to something Brendan O'Neill or Katie Hopkins said, would basically go in the bin.

I don't think there is a single Irish political party that is stranger than the National Party. But the last week's goings on, in what ought to be an utterly irrelevant party have been truly bizarre. The lost gold, followed up by a power struggle, all of which is playing out in the media.

I actually think Bertie Ahern has generally hit the nail on the head over The Wolfe Tones EP gig. Although, I would expect it would get less coverage outside of silly season.

The fellas with the Fine Gael accents definetly are having more of a meltdown than everyone else.

Seems they are going to play in Pairc Ui Chaoimh next year.

They’re probably more upset about young people enjoying themselves at a concert than they are the British govt. today blocking any future inquests into killings in the north

I worked with an Indian fella who was a Trump supporter and Nationalist Party supporter.  Being a brown person he didnt seem to notice the contradiction seeing as he was an immigrant.

One of a number of people who should avoid trying to give people lessons on morality.

Leo Varadkar has indicated that the Government may launch a legal challenge to the legislation. The fact that it has zero support across the parties in the North shows how bad a policy it is.

I wouldn't necessarily say its a morality issue, tbh.

It's a bit hard to swallow someone like Bertie preaching about morality and the "trauma we had to endure". I'm sure it was awful for him watching it on the tele from his wee posh couch in Dublin.
