He applied in mid March to be put on the medical register again. Only went through in the last day or so
So what LOL

So it means you are wrong about him seeing the response and deciding he missed a trick
Ah sure if a politician says so it must be true LOL
Just because it's tradition does not make it right

It’s clearly a PR stunt, I don’t have a major problem with it once he doesn’t get in the way but I’m amazed people can’t see it for what it is.

Not buying the Leo PR stunt at all. If he really cared, go back to the front line fulltime and let Coveny temporarily take over. He's more than capable

This. Coveney is well able to read from an autocue into a camera.

Same here, he is a doctor after all. And while its a very good PR stunt, the way some mainly SF supporters on here are reacting is hilarious

Can't see it. Final nail in Labour's coffin. He's despised outside the party and by a good chunk in it. He's divisive and arrogant. He's a personification of how they sold out their base. They may have had a chance of a re-set under AOR but Kelly? Not for me. Another shellacking next election while the Soc Dems keep growing and a reverse takeover a la Democratic Left awaits for the Labour Party.

I think the reverse takeover is really contingent on how well the SD’s do over the next few years. I also suspect there is a large group of Labour supporters who wouldn’t want to lose the brand.

On another note, MLM’s piece in the IT today is incredibly tone deaf.

Yes, it would be contingent on that. I'd see the Soc Dems being the larger party next election.

They didn't lose the brand when Democratic Left essentially took over, could be similar.

I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand it displays a good leadership trait of leading from the front, but on a practical level you would wonder how much impact he could be having working one day a week. I would have also thought he'd be flat out in his current role. I certainly see how it could be construed as a PR stunt to those of a more cynical mind - or of course to those who dislike him already.

Hopefully he can experience the reality of what frontline HSE workers are facing. No harm there.

Given he doesn’t have much experience, certainly not of the front line, isn’t there a danger he may be a hindrance? This is regardless of any politicking or PR stunts
