Talk about sh*tting the bed. Must be one of the lowest scoring innings in test cricket history?

11 Irish batsmen = about 1/3 of a Morgan.
They bored them into it by making them play for days.

Our innings didn't collapse, it completely dissolved from a solid start into a shambles. Once again, the captain must take the responsibility for it. An opening batsman really should be capable of adding more than two runs to the scoreboard, but sometimes he has struggled to even manage that. He was our first batsman to lose his wicket in both innings, and his post match interview was just as embarrassing, blaming everything from the sun to the floodlights for why his incompetence was shown up again. England have 2-3 Test Series per year. We are lucky to play 2 Test Matches per year. England complain that they have to play too much cricket, we complain that we don't play enough. Both are true, but the contrast in resources is stark, and this was a reality check. We move on to our next Test in Sri Lanka early next year. |

Remember we could have beaten England if the sun was out on the last day in Lords . The five game is so different than the one day or 20 over Blast . We will get there but again SL will have too much for us . |

Just a pity for those in attendance that the day wasn't finished an over or two earlier. If there were 15 overs or less, ticket holders got their full ticket price back. As it was, they only got half of it back. Oh well. It could have been a literal silver lining to a particularly sh*tty cloud.

As a consolation for the T20 Cricket League pulled at the last minute, this week, we played Scotland and Holland in the T20 tournament in Malahide.
I was at our 2 games v Scotland. The first one on Tuesday saw us comfortably chase 194 to win. The second game was today, the final game of the tournament, winner takes all. After KOB smashed 6 off the first ball on his way to 62, we looked like setting a great score at 76/1 after 6 Overs. Once the Powerplay was done though, the scoring rate dropped alarmingly, and 186/9 at the end of our innings looked not enough. Hopes of victory were higher when Scotland were 36/2 early on. The game continued while all communication with the outside world ceased. The online coverage crashed, the score websites couldn't be updated, and with inadequate facilities at the venue and very little info coming from the PA, it was impossible to keep track of the scoreline, except that Scotland had put up a century stand for the third wicket, and looked to have the game in the bag. Once that wicket eventually fell, they needed 44 off the last 5 Overs, then 29 off the last 3, 21 off the last 2, and 15 off the last. With 4 needed off the last 2 balls, they just needed a boundary. The next ball brought a single. After 200 Overs bowled during the week, the tournament all came down to the final ball. It resulted in another single and a runout and we won the tournament by 1 run, 186 Runs to 185. And all for free. It's our first trophy won for a long time, and good preparation for the T20 WCQ in the UAE soon.
