Ireland U-21 2019 Qualifying

Not picking on the young lad but I would love to know how King became impressed by Kane's performances to warrant him a place in the squad, never mind the team, as more often than not he sits on the Fylde bench. In any case, King must have a bit of dirt on John Delaney as how else has he remained in that job for 9 years. 

Sounds consistent with the senior team at least. 

Trevor Croly with a bit of help for him seeing as he's more of a coach? 

I think, and have even seen newspaper reports confirming this, that he is incentivised in his FAI scout role to pick as many English born players as he can get his hands on and even gets paid a bounty for each one, presumably as a substitute for lack of wages. This would explain his proclivity for lower league and conference englishmen, though does little to explain the Danny Kane love.

I think he and the FAI have a completely different agenda when it comes to the under-21 set up and its nothing to do with winning matches or developing talent.

I wouldn't blame him on Crowley though like some seem to be. He's have to have applied to switch several months ago to be part of this campaign and he was offered the chance to defect by MON before the start of this campaign but stalled and then went back to England when they showed interest in him again. Now he's making a thing of his Irishness again but this has happened a couple of times before without him actually committing when push came to shove. He's been asked, got the personal MON tea round the parents cap in hand chat up and all, ball is in his court now if he's serious.
