Not picking on the young lad but I would love to know how King became impressed by Kane's performances to warrant him a place in the squad, never mind the team, as more often than not he sits on the Fylde bench. In any case, King must have a bit of dirt on John Delaney as how else has he remained in that job for 9 years.

Watched the game. Some half-decent individual performances, but there is no team shape. Huge, open spaces between the midfield and back four. 2 instances in the 2nd half where an Israel midfielder badly mis-controlled the ball and still found himself straight at your centre halves. Lots of occasions where one man would press and have no one following him up. Basically, everything looked off the cuff and lads didn't know what they were supposed to be doing.
Geremi has let Kilbane in here, cross comes out to Holland, 1:1!!

Sounds consistent with the senior team at least. Thumbs Up

Yeah, it'll prepare them well for the seniors, if nothing else. If that's a sign of our future, it makes you wonder if we'll ever qualify for a tournament again. Dead

Curtis, Manning, and Dunne only players to get excited about and Dunne couldnt even get a game. Maybe Hale who looks to at least know where the goal is .

We bet that Israel team 4-0 a few months ago, how are they suddenly better than us? King needs to go.

The U21's set up reminds me off the WNT while sue ronan was in charge. Give the U21 job to Colin O'Brien. Ffs John Caulfield could see that Danny Kane wasnt ready for loi football yet, never mind international football.

We had that talented Declan Rice dude lining up for us back then though. I've watched this team a few times and he is head and shoulders above the rest of them

What would it honestly take for Noel King to get the sack? The u21s has been an embarrassment for too long.

Rice’s talents do not extend to a six goal swing against the same team.

King's lopsided bias towards foreign born lads, regardless of the level they're playing at, is mind boggling. He's a poor coach. Compare him with Baraclough. Day and night. Nordies wisely went for a decent young coach with some senior management experience

That's a very interesting post in light of the broad consensus on here (that I don't agree with) that we should be capping more of these lads at senior level. Goes back to a point CillDara made repeatedly, all well & good as a policy in theory, but are any of these lads actually any much good enough ? Other than obvious standouts like Rice (mentioned by Conan above, but anyone who has seen him at this level would agree) & Grealish, maybe also Liam Kelly at a push.

As regards King, lets see, a progressive manager who plays decent football with young Irish players would seem to be what we need & want. Keith Long at Bohs surely fits that description to a tee, Stephen Kenny will walk off with all the LOI plaudits this year, but Long has exceeded expectations since he has been in that job. Probably wouldn't even make a shortlist if the FAI did decide to employ King elsewhere (sacking him is obviously out of the question, if it was results or performances, or feeding lads through to the senior team, he'd be gone long ago).

I think, and have even seen newspaper reports confirming this, that he is incentivised in his FAI scout role to pick as many English born players as he can get his hands on and even gets paid a bounty for each one, presumably as a substitute for lack of wages. This would explain his proclivity for lower league and conference englishmen, though does little to explain the Danny Kane love.
I think he and the FAI have a completely different agenda when it comes to the under-21 set up and its nothing to do with winning matches or developing talent.
I wouldn't blame him on Crowley though like some seem to be. He's have to have applied to switch several months ago to be part of this campaign and he was offered the chance to defect by MON before the start of this campaign but stalled and then went back to England when they showed interest in him again. Now he's making a thing of his Irishness again but this has happened a couple of times before without him actually committing when push came to shove. He's been asked, got the personal MON tea round the parents cap in hand chat up and all, ball is in his court now if he's serious.

King must have some serious sh*t on Delaney alright.

Why on earth is that gobsh*te still in management. I cant believe no former player or journalist has commented on his continuation of that role. Time someone spoke out and time he was removed.
