This treaty is nothing to do with the EU or our membership of it.

Possibly but it might be the best option ie we get a full and finished treaty to vote on as opposed to voting on something that will be changed, which is what they're asking us to do now.

True this. We know it's going to be changed. We won't get to vote on the changed treaty, no doubt the referendum commission will say it's not required since we already voted in this one

Exactly, that's my major worry, we are voting blind and potentially agreeing to whatever they want.
Im undecided too Andy but that's the exact reason why I'll be voting no

You havent a clue kid

LOL What has the Treaty to do with that gombeen, nothing.

No.1 to have access to EMF.

Secondly, if people think voting yes will lead to more austerity are not thinking straight. If we have nothing to fall back on, what do you reckon we do? We will play it even more conservatively and it'll lead to extra short term austerity in my view. It would have to. The govt. are not going to gamble on our future.

Thirdly and most importantly imo, being part of Europe and being seen to be willing to stick to budgetary guidelines has a lot better chance of attracting what we need for jobs - FDI. The day we are seen to detatch from Europe is the day that this dries up.

what the f**k has the last bit got to do with the treaty? Also who has mentioned austerity measures so far in this thread?

Not true. We're voting to amend the Constitution. The wording is thus:

The State may ratify the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and
Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union done at Brussels
15 on the 2nd day of March 2012.

If the treaty is amended, if the government decide not to refer it to the people again, you can bet your bottom dollar there will be a challenge to it in the courts and it will go all the way to the Supreme Court. I don't have faith in the government but I do have faith in the Supreme Court.

So your voting yes for that reason?

Where's you FDI going then and where will the FDI attracted over past 30 years go?

The CCCTB in my understanding is a separate issue that we would not be signing up to in this treaty. With the change in leadership in France will that CCCTB be pursued as much as it was in any instance? Im not sure of the answer tbh.

CT rate is not up for change in this treaty.

Ireland can veto any change to CT rates as a unanimous agreement is needed by all nations on taxation. If we increase the CT rate it will be our decision.

nope, only 12 countries need to pass it unlike lisbon and nice which needed unanimous backing.

Good letter in the indo today about how much nonsense the no side were spouting, yes sude is equally as bad but holding the country to ransom financially for the sake of a protest against austerity, as some no groups are advocating, could not be more contradictory.
