Hate this nonsense every year. I know it's only one day, but feck it, for many people it's the start of a four day holiday or at least a three day one. 
Most people I know have house parties and drink more alcohol than they would on a normal Friday night!

The myriad of exceptions make the ban all the more ludicrous.
Surely we've devolved ourselves enough from the clutches of the RC church to be able to change this archaic law?

Don't think hotels are allowed serve beer either regardless of whether you're a resident.

Good Friday is the most boring, sh*tty, pointless day of the year, only good thing about it is not having to work.  Thank fark there's a Rovers match on anyhow.

In work at five tonight in the off-licence, second busiest day of the year today because of tomorrow.

Customers always say how disgraceful it is  that everyone panics and buys extra because you can't get served for one day.

Then they pick up their tray of beer/case of wine and leave swiftlyLOL

Ive worked in hotel bars on Good Friday, if you are staying in the hotel you can have a drink.
 
I agree though, it is totally pointless!!!
