Topic: Give Blood.... Posted: 03 Nov 2008 at 12:10pm |
Folks, I know many of yiz still have the weekend booze in yizzer systems, but I assume you have seen/heard the pleas for Blood Donors. I give it regular meself and I would urge everyone to do so as long as you're fit and healthy. It is so simple to do, not to mention the good it will do to people/babies that urgently need it. So do yourself and others a favour and get donating!

Good man fw..give it every 3 months myself..was lookin into givin platelets as well..give them once a month and there's less than 1000 people in ireland that do it..also on the bone marrow transplant list..there's only a 1 in 10000 chance of ever gettin called up to donate but would love to do it one day..

Yeah great idea giving blood good call FW, not donated for a while must get back to doing that again, have been contacted about bone marrow match in the past myself gazsh very difficult to get an exact match but sure if enough people get registered the chances are better to do that, think everybody healthy enough should do all that stuff anyway.

Fair play Count.......give it anyway lads, t-shirt or not. As Count says Free Bikkies and Tayto crisps/Mini Rolls......but seriously, if you're fit and healthy and near town, get your arse and more importantly your ARM into the Blood Donor Clinic on D'Olier St. I'll bump this every few weeks, they really need blood urgently folks!

Gaz....I was a regular whole blood donor for 18 years, and now donate platelets every 3-4 weeks...as you say, not many can give as you have a very high platelet count.
Was also on the Bone Marrow register for 20 years ( sadly too old now ) and never once got the call!

apparently i can't give blood in ireland, they won't take it as i lived in uk when the cows had their mad cow disease
I don't know if that's a load o bollix or what?
Maybe just as well cos the last time i donated, i was told my face went green/grey and came close to passing out. Near passed out also on way home that evening on bus
