Heard some of that interview and remember that game and goal as if it were yesterday, unlike Lawro.  Mackay will always hold a special place in our hearts (no pun intended), a great memory.  20 years, farkin hell......

Spot on Tir Chonaill, the big centre forward (Sirakov I think it was) was inches wide just after Mackay's goal.  I was behind the sofa by then.

Yeah i was just thinking about this during the week. That goal actually kicked it all off for us and the Charlton era begun...Jeez what fine line it is between success and failure.

I salute you!!

God who knows were Irish footie would be now if he didnt grab that goal, We the fans should do something for the lad and present it to him as a thank you from us. whenever it may be that people will look back through the history of Irish football his name will always pop and it would be deadly if we could show him that we acknowledge him and appreciate him for it
What do you think lads????

In an interview with Mad About Sport the free monthly supplement with the Sunday Tribune he has gotten loads of messages of support, and even plenty of his mates have been bought loads of free booze because of him. In essence Ernesto, it would be a nice gesture but he has had hundreds of them over the years...make no mistake he is fully aware of his place in Irish folklore

Front Page pic of Gary Mackay with Happy 20th Anniversary for our first qualification, a bright note to help us bury this last disastrous campaign?  Defo should be mentioned in this issue if there's time to fit him in!
