Not to turn this into a Statto posting, but as a Statto (no friends and the stats to prove it) I always have great difficulty with the stats that SKY come out with. The seem to think that football didn't exist before the "Prem" and all this shyte about statistics about the Prem should be tossed overboard as football has existed for well over 100 years and any of the stats they bring out (like the load on Alan Shearer) are really meaningless considering the men that have gone before. So it is with Mick McCarthy and the Premier League. Now I'll get back to looking up the dresses of women....sorry the stats of Ireland players who....hold on though my first thought was better.....Geek

2002 we were the most entertaining team by far , even more than Brazil !

1 player sent home
2 90th minute equalisers
3 Keano cartwheels
4 ..Gary Breens number (Was linked to Barca after the Spain game LOL )

Great job Mick ! Was in Keanes corner after Saipan but it pans out that both of yis made a bollix of it . . .

correct me if i'm wrong, but is this not his third (perhaps fourth?) promotion as a manager? He had pittance to deal with everytime he came up and always bounces back with promotions. He certainly has proved that one thing he's not is stupid.
he also knew the meaning of the word captain at a major international tournament when he was a player.

Second promotion as far as I know.

He has also been relegated twice.

He is probably the worst British manager ever to manage in the premiership according to the stats. Two seasons in the top flight - two relegation's.

apologies, second promotion and was also beaten in the play off final with sunderland.

bit harsh to say he was relegated twice when he took over the first year they went down in march.

he was also given no money the second time round

Would love to see Mick back once Trappa leaves in a few years after our World cup victory Smile He did great with our 1998,2000 and 2002 campaign and did great to fill the HUGE gap after Jack left.

Think Mick was unfortunately left with little choice in the Keane saga ,and the whole thing was a big mess for all involved. Doesn't take anything away from his skills and he has done brilliant with little money. He has done great again this season and hope he gets the funds needed and stays up!

do you think Keogh and Ward will play next year? I know Keogh has been in and out but Ward has played about 40 games this year between LB and Left Wing. (dont think Mick sees him as a striker anymore)

Keogh is struggling to make it in the Championship, really cant see him making the Premiership standard. Havent seen enough of Ward at left full to judge him, still am very surprised he switched to a full back from forward. Played with him at schoolboy and he was always an attacker. Think Foley has the best chance of regular football next year...
