If Jason Byrne was getting his game at Cardiff I would think he should be given a go.

but that's the thing zizu; he's not and he's far far from international standard. he'll be back in the eircom league in no time

dont agree there. folan is well capable of playing and doing well in the championship whereas byrne cant even make the bench

According to wikipedia Folen has only scored 17 goals in about 130 senior games. Byrne has a proven goal scoring record (ok in the eircom league) and only cant get in the cardiff team cos of hasselbank n fowler. If he did come home and started scoring id put him straight in the squad because he will win more ball in the air than anyone else.

I'll be honest and say i havent seen enough of byrne to rate him but from the games i have seen him play i havent been too impressed but in fairness the same could be said about folan. however i'd just give it to folan as he's plays at a higher level week in week out at the mo.
in relation to ward, i was told he just wasnt getting in at wolves at the mo. very surprised not to see him in cork last week - maybe he was injured but i never heard anything

Jason Byrne is a free agent at the moment im led to believe and after watching Jason Byrne many a time i will say he is not a target man he is a goal scorer and he is better than caleb folan

Look at the players even being mentioned in this thread. None of them are international standard.

sadly no , but look how quickly a player can burst on the scene , hell we could have a target man by the next campaign if a young fella came through , a current player adapted his game or someone unexpected declared for us ...
