The tweet was deleted and the story wasn't true according to the Airforce. They say the colonel was talking hypothetically but it didn't actually happen. But this is the American military here so who knows maybe it is true.

Let's say these new self aware super beings are created in such a way to be 'unable' to cause harm to the human rat. How exactly is that meant to work? It's the equivalent of a dog locking up a human, how quickly do you think the human would have the dog on it's lap rubbing it's belly?
Now lets assume these AI are controlled, we have just another issue in these tech behemoths are the ones controlling this AI, and they will gobble up and monetise every aspect of our lives. What's worse is they are mostly American. The most aggressive nation in the world today. The idea of a load of Elon Musk's having a genie is equally terrifying and even Musk is sounding the alarm bells about the risks of AI. |

It is an utterly fascinating area to ponder upon. These AGI will become self aware and if you can solve billions of processes in seconds, how hard would it be for them to create a body for themselves, that's if they'd even feel the need to have one.
Would they use a robot, would they use an animal or human? Or would they eventually create and grown their own new life forms. If all the electrical power in the world was turned off would they die? Where would they exist in that state? If there is lots of different AGI and they took over, why would they work together? Wouldn't there be a variety of attitudes. Could there be some AGI that would love their halfwit creators? I read Straw Dogs 20 odd years ago and it's never been more relevant than today. I must read it again.
