It's already in place at United and has been used since the start of the season. Family members have 2 ST in there.

Chelsea's Premier League game against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on 2 January will mark the return of standing to the English top flight after nearly 30 years. Premier League clubs Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea and Championship side Cardiff have all had their applications to be part of a safe standing trial approved. Since 1994, grounds in the first and second tiers of the English football pyramid have been required by law to be all-seaters. "I'm pleased to approve these five clubs as early adopters of licensed safe standing areas for the second half of the season," said sports minister Nigel Huddleston. "The time is now right to properly trial safe standing in the Premier League and EFL Championship ahead of a decision on a widespread roll-out. |

Clubs have installed safe standing areas for a while but have not been allowed to use them up to this point. In theory, anybody standing in those areas should have been told to sit down.

Exactly right I was merely pointing out that the Chelsea v Liverpool match could be a watershed and hopefully a breakthrough for other clubs?

LIVERPOOL will introduce safe standing areas at Anfield in time for Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Bournemouth after receiving a licence for the new season, it was announced today. The club will introduce safe standing areas in all rail seating sections on the Kop and the lower Anfield Road Stand, allowing 13,300 fans to stand throughout matches. Liverpool applied for the licence in June after a steady expansion of the rail seating sections across the stadium since they were first introduced during the 2020-21 season. |
