I dont know if there is any beekeepers or farmers on here, but this is a worrying development. There has been lots of sensationalist garbage written about these insects over the past decade, they do have a relatively potent sting and can cause allergic reactions for a small number of people (as can native wasps and bees). However ther real issue is they devastatingly prey on honeybees. A handful of these things can literally kill 100s of bees in a single attack. They were introduced accidentally to France in the early 2000s and they've since spread all over continental Europe. Certain regions in Spain and France have seen dramatic reduction in their bee population as a result.

No idea what it was, but saw the biggest wasp/bee/hornet I'd ever seen in my house last summer, thing was the length of a matchbox. Thankfully he flew out the door, wanted nothing to do with him

Probably think they are wasps, the honeybee and wasp look very similar.
